Initial Review: 1,000 miles on tires

I had to make a compromise between a 205/50 and a 195/55. I chose the 55 because that is what Honda chose to equip the Civic and Integra Type R's and other top line models and after driving on them for 1000 miles I am sure glad I chose the 55 profile. Although there is a bit of numbness over center as other reviewers such as The Rack and Grassroots have described, the steering response is linear and most importantly, the tire is predictable. No surprises here, I have no idea how Yokohama does it but they manage to create tires that just defy reason.
One usually sacrifices comfort for grip or vice versa, but these shoes just astound me. Quiet quiet quiet and grip like nothing else short of an autocross tire. What amazed me was the tires ability to absorb bumps and imperfections in the road. Any tire can do that in a straight line, but these guys pull it off in a corner.
I hit an offramp in Orlando to get on Orange Blossom Trail and the ramp is made of broken road, patches and imperfection. I threw the car into the ramp at around 60mph to see what they would do, and I was not disappointed. They absorbed differences in teh road without even so much as a twitch or a jiggle, they remained completely predeictable and surefooted, and I never felt like I was not in control of my vehicle. Love these tires and would definitely recommend them to anyone over any tire (except the Star Specs if you are looking for a race tire only). They handle the rain very well and do what the are supposed to.
These ----ers are as smooth, quiet and comfortable as any touring tire I've used or ridden on and they definately will not disappoint you. Driving on them, you can feel their dedication and you can almost feel a personal connection with the hard working attitude of these tires and all the guys at Yokohama.
This tire begs to be pushed to the limits and lets you know when it is time to back off. Hard working tires that will not let you down + great people at the race = HUGE WIN!!!!!
