Michelin Defender
Initial Review: 1,000 miles on tires

These tires are fantastic. We live in Rhode Island and just experienced a major snow storm. All I can say is that these tires made my CR-V handle the snow with ease. My wife even commented on how great they were in a recent downpour. Plus they make the CR-V ride so quietly and comfortably! I had purchased a set of Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max that were on sale locally and returned them because they were LOUD and rode rough, not to mention I didn't like how they made the CR-V handle. If you own a 2002-2006 CR-V, the only tire I would suggest for your vehicle is the Michelin Defender. This model of CR-V (02-06) is known to be loud, and the Defenders drastically reduce any road noise you hear. Ironically when I returned the Goodyears, the salesperson asked if I had previously owned Michelins. When I told her I did she said I had been spoiled by the quality of the Michelins and that is why I hated the Goodyears! It only took me a minute after having the Michelins installed to instantly feel the difference. And believe me - the difference is HUGE! I haven't had them long enough to judge the treadwear, but I know the CR-V is hard on tires and I will not get the full 90k miles out of them. My last set was a set of Michelin X radials with an 80k mile rating and I got 50k out of them. I don't care about that - the increased ride comfort, safety and performance over the many years I will have them is well worth the sacrifice in warrantied mileage. Overall, I think Michelin hit a home run with these new Defenders. Thanks to the folks at Tire Rack for their great service and recommendation.
