Kumho Ecsta LE Sport
Initial Review: 3,000 miles on tires

These tires are great, especially at this price point! They stick very well and leave you feeling confident. You can get them loose but they immediately hunker down and shoot you in the direction you want to go. Very quiet too. They do squeal a bit when you get them spinning through a lower speed turn. The OEM tires were Michelin Preceda Pilots. Very good tires, though they lasted only 54,000 km (33,500 miles), most likely because I'm always turning off the traction control to get the rear end out at every opportunity - too much fun. I could get the Michelins spinning a lot more easily, but the rear end would wag a lot more before you got it under control as compared to my new Khumo Ecsta LE Sport tires. One thing the Khumos do that is a bit disconcerting is that they get a little wiggely during steady state high speed cornering, feeling as if they're made with a bit of jello. Traction control is always on for higher speed sweepers, as this is a situation that is not overly confidence inspiring. I would buy these tires again. When you do the comparisons using the Tire Rack comaprison tool, they come out near the top in most catagories, but pound for pound are every bit as good as tires costing twice as much. Great tire - no regrets! The Tire Rack web site is amazing as a research tool and as a retail site. Some really good deals, you just have to keep looking.
