Initial Review: 1,000 miles on tires

Despite the foul reviews for this tire, I purchased a set of four with some skepticism but also keeping in mind the very good price for them. The tires went in my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with SelecTrac and I've driven them for 1,000 miles so far. I'm pleased to report the tires perform very well in wet and dry pavement. The tires give very good steering feedback, no funny business at all steering the truck where I want it to go though I'm sure it helped tremendously that I got a wheel alignment at the same time when the tires were installed and balanced.

For a truck this size and weight, it corners very good. I can corner somewhat aggressively with confidence though center of gravity is what it is. The Jeep will never corner like a sports car, but that's okay.

The tread design of this tire clearly isn't designed to get in and out of a foot of snow. It looks more like a touring tire. I'll post an update this Winter if I ever find myself driving through snow in my truck.

The one other quality about this tire worth mentioning is road noise. This is a very, very quiet tire. Almost too quiet. You will be pleased.
