General AltiMAX RT43 (T-Speed Rated)
Initial Review: 1,000 miles on tires
January 08, 2014

This is my first set of General Tires. The General AltiMAX RT43 replaced the OEM Yokohama Geolanders that came on the Forester. They Geolanders were not a good all season tire. I did not feel safe on snow and ice even with the all wheel drive.

I had the General tires installed on a snowy day and it was really an impulse buy because of the lack of traction I was getting that day. What a great surprise it was when these tires really showed how well they are suited for this type of weather. So far, I have driven them in snow, deep fresh snow and ice and they have handled flawlessly. I have also driven them in dry and wet weather. No hard rain yet. They handle very well in those situations as well. They are very quiet and comfortable at freeway speeds. They do not flatspot as bad as the Yokohama tires did when they sit over night in the cold. Overall, I am very very happy with this purchase. I have had Michelin Primacy MXM4, MXV4 and Latitude Tours on different vehicles over the last couple of years. These tires are half the price and handle the different elements better than any of those did! I will post an update when these get some more miles on them. Hopefully they will hold up to the stated 75k miles warranty. I would highly recommend this tire! General Tire has a new fan!
