I am updating my review after 30k on these tires. Everything I said then still holds true. I'm now entering my 4th year with modest tread wear. The key is to keep your tires inflated to the speck pressures which I do weekly.

Initial Review w/1,000 Miles-Dec 16, 2010
I live in upstate NY and drive about 600 miles per week. I consider myself a professional commuter and have little patience for timid drivers...yeh I yell obscenities when I come upon someone who is dogging it even though they can't hear. If I'm lucky cars pull over if they can't drive my pace. If they don't I then have to rely on things such as good tires to make the pass. I have just finished traveling the NYS Thruway during which I drove under extremely difficult conditions: at night, sub freezing temps, light snow, ice, slush, drifting snow.....the entire range of winter driving....not to mention encoutering drivers who had no business being on the roads. Getting to and from the thruway on winding highways the conditions were 2 to 3 times as bad. One night there was a blizzard and no plow had been around since it was a Sunday night. There was about 6-8 inches of snow on the road and tire tracks were going in various directions all over the road. THESE TIRES ARE THE BEST!!!! I have previuosly used Blizzacks with satisfaction, but there is no comparison in my humble opinion. During these conditions I was able to drive consistantly at speeds 20 to 30 miles faster than everyone else. My car tracked true and I could accellerate without wheel slippage (I do have an AWD Volvo). I felt safe every night (even though there was no time to relax and my hands barely touched the Blackberry, Droid or coffee mug)! Don't let the name General name trick you into thinking these are generic tires. For winter conditions, these tires are a road warrior's best weapon and the price cannot be beat. About the only thing I can't rate is tire wear since I've only logged 1000 miles.
