Initial Review: 500 miles on tires

After paying $218 for a replacement Toyo A-20 last January, I must commend Nissan for not using typical rim protectors. However, when I started thinking about replacement tires at 30,000 (I was commended for the miles on the original 3...one service tech said they usually don't last to 20,000 miles)

I guess I never realized how noisy the A-20s were until I switched to the Ecopias...my Cube has been transformed...now the only thing I hear at highway speed is the wind noise generated because of the cars blunt shape.

And not just the quietness transforms the car...it rides better too. Dallas streets are in generally sad shape...and bumps or cracks that I slowed down for and cringed...can still be felt, but it's not nearly as harsh as it was with the Toyos.

And I've seen about a 1.5mpg increase in fuel economy (per the cars trip computer). We had some recent rain and slick conditions in the area lately, and these tires gave me a very secure feeling.

Granted, a Cube will never be a high performance vehicle...but the Ecopias are fairly rsepsonsive and predictable...no surprises.

All this, a reasonable price, and a 65,000 mile treadwear warranty...I can't imagine a better tire for my Cube considering the way I drive.
