Minimal cone usage on the wide open expanse of concrete provided a pair of deceptively challenging courses. Posing as simple elements, a variety of technical sections kept the field of 11 STR class drivers working overtime during the weekend. Eventual winner Ken Montonishi jumped out to a large lead right off the bat, and never looked back. Tire Rack and Grassroots Motorsports drivers John Rogers and Chris Harvey drove flat out in an effort to catch Montonishi, but could only be the best of the rest finishing second and third overall.
Harvey scored enough points in the finale to finish the year-end points championship in second place overall, behind Montonishi who went undefeated in Pro Solo competition all year to score the overall win in STR.
Next stop is the practice course on Monday, followed by the Tire Rack SCCA National Championship event beginning on Tuesday.
