Introducing the New Goodyear Ultra Grip Winter

Goodyear Ultra Grip WinterJust in time for the 2013-14 winter season, Goodyear has introduced their new Studdable Winter / Snow tire, the Ultra Grip Winter.

Ultra Grip Winter radials feature a winter compound molded into a directional tread design that enhances cold weather flexibility and helps evacuate water on wet and slush-covered roads. Wide tread grooves help evacuate loose snow and slush to enhance wintertime traction while multiple sipes increase the number of biting edges to improve grip on ice and in snow. Alternating rows of optional metal studs can be added in the shoulder and intermediate tread blocks to increase traction on hard-packed snow and icy roads.

I recently installed a new set of Ultra Grip Winters on my Dodge Charger. Being a rear-wheel drive car, I need as much traction as I can get. Initially, I was skeptical about this tire, however I decided I would give it a try. I opted not to stud them and just use them without.

We've had a decent amount of snow already and the roads have been covered in hard-packed snow and ice. They did leave a little to be desired on the ice, but that can be enhanced it you decide to stud them. On fresh and packed snow, they have proven to provide good grip and confidence.

If you're looking for a good value winter radial, especially one you can stud, you'll be glad to have the Goodyear Ultra Grip Winter installed on your vehicle.
