Last winter season Continental unveiled their latest winter tire, the Continental ExtremeWinterContact
. I really didn't think much of it and many here would prefer the Michelin X-Ice or the Bridgestone Blizzak, and I really did not consider this tire for my personal use.
All that has changed for me now that we have driven on them on the ice rink. This reminds me of the saying to never judge a book by its cover. This tire did exceptionally well in the testing and had quite impressive grip on the ice. Even customer feedback on our survey
ranks it second only to the Michelin X-Ice Xi2.
The nice thing about this tire will be its value. Compared to the Michelin X-Ice, they are considerably lower in price and provide comparable performance and grip. This gives the budget-minded customer, especially one considering buying a second set of wheels for winter use, a great option and more reason to go with Winter Wheels and Tires
Just remember: always install winter tires in sets of four.
