C5 Corvette Tires

Last week, my buddy finally got his C5 out of storage and came to me for some new tires and wanted a few suggestions. The first decision he needed to make was whether or not to stay with a run-flat tire.

Ultimately, he decided not to purchase a set of run-flats. Like many Corvettes, this car only gets driven on special occasions and is only driven a couple hundred miles a year. Because of this, my friend didn't want to invest a whole lot of money into his tires. He decided to look for a tire with good street performance at an honest price.

With all that in mind, here were afew of my suggestions.

My first choice for him was the Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport. This is Tire Rack’s top rated Ultra High Performance Summer tire and an excellent value from a premium manufacturer. Now, I know there are stickier tires out there in the max performance category, but for my friend’s purpose, they will suit him just fine.

My second choice for him was the Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110. We started offering this tire about a year ago and have had a lot of success and have received great feedback from customers. This tire handles very well and provides superior wet and dry traction.

My third choice was the Sumitomo HTR ZII. Granted, this tire has been around for a while and the tires mentioned above are better performers, but this tire is still very sporty. It is simply a great buy and they look pretty cool, too.

These are not run-flat tires. Depending on the size you're looking for, check out the options from Yokohama and Kumho.
