Best All-Terrain Tire Choices for 275/55R20 Size

Not too long ago, 20-inch tires were rare, exotic and mostly reserved for high-end European SUVs or show vehicles gracing the cover of automobile magazines. Those that were available were ultra high performance tires, often with little to no all-season traction and wore very quickly. This is not the case today. In fact, 20" tires are an option on many popular trucks, SUVs and domestic and import crossovers.

Of the 20" sizes that are used, one of the most common is 275/55R20. This size is often used on SUVs like the Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Suburban, Ford Expedition and GMC Yukon. Trucks that commonly use this size include the Chevy Silverado, Dodge Ram 1500, Ford F-150 and can even be used with 20" wheels on newer Toyota Tundras.

A popular misconception is that one can't find more aggressive On-/Off-Road All-Terrain tires in this size. This performance category is one of the most effective in snow traction and light off-road capability in a tire that can be used year-round. Many of the best all-terrain tires on the market are available in this size, such as the Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar and Michelin LTX A/T 2.

If you're looking for a more street friendly ride and longer wear, I'd suggest the Michelin LTX A/T 2. It compares quite favorably to a long-time favorite that you can learn about by reading, "BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO vs. Michelin LTX A/T 2." For more aggressive snow and off-road traction, consider the Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar as your top choice.

I have the same question as Matthew... Without changing my stock 20 inch rims on a 2015 Dodge Ram Express... What is the biggest, best ALL TERRAIN tire under $300.00, with a mean tread design... My truck does have a leveling kit...

I have a 2013 ram crew cab w/5 1/2 foot bed. 2 wheel drive.Tires are stock,Goodyear Wrangler SRA P275/60/R20 .
Would the Goodyear All terrain Adventure W/Kevlar in size 275/55/20 be a better tire that will fit the stock rims?
What about the Michelin LTX M/S2 be better for my use. I pull a 5000 lb travel trailer in the mountains.
Tuesday, December 22, 2015 by Gary

If this is a 1500 ram either tire will handle the load of the trailer with no problem. The LTX M/S2 is smoother, quieter and has longer wear than the Goodyear All terrain Adventure W/Kevlar, but the All terrain Adventure W/Kevlar will have more offroad and snow traction.

I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab 4x4. I currently have 37x13.5x17 mud grapplers. I'm looking to down size on tires for better MPG and turning radius. I've had 35" Toyo open country and 35" mud grapplers. Would 33" be to small with a 6" lift also I'd go down from 13.5 to maybe 10 or 9 if possible. I want to get back to something that a all-terrain any advice on a few different tires?

I have a similar question to a couple people previous...Without changing my stock 20 inch rims on a 2012 SLT Ram 4wd Crew Cab pickup... What is the biggest, best ALL TERRAIN tire , with a mean tread design available?? My truck has a leveling/small lift kit (3" front lift & 2" rear)... I would prefer that the overall height of the tire be more than 33", which is what I have now... Would prefer Maybe 35"?? Is that possible/available ?

Top all-terrain tires would include the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 and Firestone Destination AT. I would leave the cosmetic appearance of which size to use up to you.

I have a 2005 Chevy 1500 with 275 55 R20 tires. Currently needing to replace them. I drive approximately 100 miles a day round trip to work and home. What would you suggest for longer wear without breaking the bank. Trying to stay under the $150 mark if possible

Will 275/55r20 fit a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer LT without any modification? Currently running 275/45r20 on the SS wheels and need to replace but would like to go slightly bigger and more aggressive without modification. Thanks in advance.

Mike, The 275/55R20 is larger than anything we know will fit, so you might see some rubbing
