Which Street Legal Drag Radial Racing Tires to Buy

Do you have a high-powered Chevy Camaro, Ford Mustang or modified car that you want to take to the drag strip? If so, you might be interested in a tire that is designed to be driven on the street, as well as at your event.

Drag racing radials have softer sidewalls and tread compounds in order to maximize grip in straight-line acceleration that's typical when launching a car from a stop at a drag racing strip.

BFGoodrich's popular g-Force T/A Drag Radial is available in a variety of sizes and comes in two tread patterns depending on the size. The classic tread pattern is known as the T/A Drag Radial 2 while the more modern tread pattern is simply called the g-Force T/A Drag Radial. Toyo's Proxes TQ (which stands for "Top Qualifier") is available in more limited sizes and one tread pattern.

Note that while drag racing radials are street legal, the soft sidewalls they feature often result in reduced cornering grip and stability in street driving.

Shop by size or by vehicle to see which models are available for your application.

I want drag radials for my 2011 Dodge Charger R/T Road and Track. It has factory 20's on it. 245/45/20. I don't wanna have to change my rim and I don't mind changing the size of the tire. Any suggestions?

I'm sorry, I know of no 20" drag radial tires.

Was looking for a pair of radials for my 06 Dodge charger and haven't found any in the 18" diameter but have no problem going to a smaller rim, just looking for the best bang for my buck tire wise.

If you're just replacing a pair (two tires) it is important to match to the brand name and model of the other two tires on the vehicle.

I have a 2004 srt4 that is lowered (not sure how much) with a body kit. Was looking at the Hoosier DOT Drag Radial 245/45R17 and was wondering if it would fit. I know I'm not giving you a lot to go off of but any educated guesses?

The largest that we've fit on the 2004 Dodge Neon SRT4 is size 225/45R17. We do not know if the taller and wider 245/45R17 will fit, sorry.

2001 camaro on 16" wheels, I want to go the widest possible. Any suggestions?
Monday, September 9, 2013 by Gary

The largest we've tried on this car in 16" is size 245/50R16. The nearest size made in a street legal race tire is size 255/50R16.

I'm sorry, we have never tried this tire size on a Camaro so we are not sure if it would fit. We actually do not carry any tires at all in this particular size.

Looking for a street/strip A rated tire 28" dia with at least a 9" tread and a section/w of 10"-11" to fit a 15X7" rim. Most of my driving is street and not any track time but want sticky for playing on the street.

I'm racing in the dollar stock/ hobby stock dirt track racing class. I was wondering what tires I should use. Here are the rules: HEELS:
1. Offset wheels are allowed. Plating, washers or double nuts are allowed.
2. Tires must be street tires only. No mud or knobby tires. Must be DOT approved, street legal tires; Snow
tires must not have studs.
3. DOT P rated tires only no race spec tires Maximum tire width is 225mm or 8.00 inch as stamped on tire
from manufacturer must be legible and unaltered. Default if manufacturers numbering is illegible maximum “measured TREAD width” shall not exceed 7 inches.

I'm trying to figure out the best tire/size for my 700hp, 3.77 geared '73 Plymouth satellite. I'm not particular on rim size. It is going to be mostly a weekend driver, with a biannual trip to the track. I'm not looking at MTs because they wear too fast, but what ever it is has to hookup reasonably but still handle on the street as a weekend import eater. Any suggestions would like be appreciated.

What would be a good tire to run on my 92 s10? I have both 15 and 16 inch rims for it and I would like the tire to be 30 inches tall and about 11 inches wide
Monday, December 18, 2017 by Tire Rack Team

Walter: The size 265/70R15 is 29.7 inches in height and 10.6 inches at the section width, the widest part of the tire.
