How Does the Tire Rack Road Hazard Service Program Work?

Road Hazard ProgramTire Rack offers peace of mind through our Tire Road Hazard Program. Potholes, probably the most common hazard you may encounter, are becoming more and more of a problem on the roadways - causing everything from sidewall bubbles to complete blowouts, this is probably the most common hazard you may encounter. Additionally, other road debris, such as nails or glass, and other obstacles like curbs, can all result in varying degrees of damage. While we honor manufacturer warranties, there are cases in which you'll need this additional protection.

The Tire Rack Tire Road Hazard Program allows you to go to any tire repair facility in the United States for service. You will need to pay for the repair or replacement and submit the invoice for reimbursement.

The program runs for 36 months or until the tire reaches 2/32" of tread depth, whichever comes first. In the case of a repairable tire, you would be eligible for up to a $25 reimbursement per occurrence. When the damage is more severe and not repairable, reimbursement is at 100% of the original price for the first 12 months. After the first year, reimbursement is pro-rated based on the 36-month coverage period.
  • Coverage is available in the 48 continental states only
  • LT, trailer and competition tires are not eligible

What if I bought two sets of tires at different times and have had them rotated? How will I know which is which tire after that if I were to have a claim? How do you know which is which? They are all already the same brand of course and style, which is confusing.

Hi Sarah,
There is a code on the sidewall that is tracked.

Do y'all sell road hazard on OE tires? I bought a new Hyundai Santa Fe, but they only sell a wheel and tire hazard combo for $500.

Sorry we do not offer that service

Can the tire road hazard warranty be transferred if I sell the tires?

I just bought 4 expensive continental tires for my vehicle 2 weeks ago, Today 1 of them went flat due to a sidewall puncture rendering the tire useless. Does your warranty cover this tire?

Two questions -
1) is it possible for me, as the owner, to initiate the claim/obtain the claim number ( i feel bad making my mechanic sit on hold for 1/2 an hour)

2) what are the hours that the call center operates? i've been waiting on hold for a while...

The hours for the road hazard call center are Mon - Fri 6 am -530 pm mountain std time, and Saturday 6 am-2:30 pm mountain std time. You can start the claim but ultimately they will want to speak with the mechanic to verify the damage. Perhaps they can call your mechanic instead of him having to call in.

What do I have to do for roadhazard? I bought a set of tires and one of the tires ripped at the bead. Do I have to buy a new tire and then submit for reimbursement?
Friday, June 8, 2018 by Tire Rack Team

Brandon Santee, yes, you would buy the new tire and start the road hazard claim, just make sure you keep track of the damaged tire until the claim has been finished. Also, please contact our customer service for assistance. 888-981-3953.
