Initial Review, 5,000 Miles on Tires
May 21, 2014

First of all these tires claim to be an all season but they are awful in the snow and mediocre in the rain at best. On dry pavement they are fair with traction but they are extremely noisy and harsh over bumps. I got these to replace my stock yokohama advans that were toast and they were the first set I came across a deal on so I bought them. 5000 miles later they are pretty much done and handling and road noise is even worse. I got an alignment when they were installed and everything was within spec (unlike many reviews on here who never get an alignment and wonder why their tires only last 5k miles). I've rotated them twice to try to minimize the wear but it didn't help. Save your money and buy a different set of tires as you will most likely be disappointed with these tires.

What an amazing tire! Put a set (265 rear, 225 front) on newly bought used Porsche 911 cabriolet. Only 4000 mi so far but great performance. Amazing stability on wet roads (I mean Florida downpour wet).Found myself at 70+ mph with no hydroplane feeling. Wouldn't recommend it though for general safety. This is my 3rd 911. Have had them all. Yokohama, Parelli, Michelin. These are the best! Wear looks great. Will return with review after a few more thousand.

This is proving to be a great tire. Drove in a blinding rainstorm at 70 mph with no hydroplaning. Road noise is almost non-existent and ride is excellent. For the price you can't beat this tire. It is as good, if not better, than any tire I have owned and this includes Michelin, Yokohama, Pirelli and Continental. I don't plan to drive this car in snow but did want a tire that would perform well in cold temperatures.

This is my 3rd consecutive set of Yokohama Parada Spec-X's on the Infinti FX35 AWD. I average around 45,000 miles per set and they are an all-around excellent value for the money. Excellent tread life, great dry/wet responsiveness, and great ride comfort and low noise. I would not hesitate to recommend these to anyone with a similar crossover application. I will buy another set for this vehicle when these are done.

So far I am very pleased with this tire choice. They ride and drive very well on wet and dry roads, smooth and quiet. They handled the copious snowfall we had last winter beautifully, and to top it off, they look great on my 4Runner. They give the illusion of an aggressive off road tire, but without any of the noise or rough handling. I couldn't be more pleased so far.

I love how these tires handle. Take in consideration that the rubber on these tires are thinner than most tires built to last mileage wise. Expect to spend more on tires that doesn't last longer than approximately 30K miles due to the fact that the rubber on these tires are thinner than those tires that can go for 40K+ mileage. The reason for the rubber on these tires are thinner is because performance wise it handles better on the road, it has that "hug" affect. There is more control over the vehicle than those other tires that can last 40K+ miles. Of course, these tires wear out quickly just to the fact that the rubber is made a little thinner.

So, yes these are great .. sport performance. Cost is expected for performance not for the long lasting performance. So depending what is sought out..These are the best for performance handling. The cost is steep .. but you get what you pay for. I'd purchase it again!

This is the third set of Yoko AD07 or AD08 I have purchased for my Porsche. I am a "track rat", but have dedicated tires/wheels for the track. This is my daily driver, and is driven 50% city, 50% highway, including in the rain. These tires are fantastic with the best dry and wet grip available in a street tire. The turn-in is sharp, but not quite as good as Michelin PS2's, and better than Dunlop Direzza's. They are predictable at the limit, with a very correctable breakaway point. They are fantastic in the rain, and I have driven them in a downpour at Watkins Glen track, with absolute confidence. Resistance to hydroplaning is excellent. As they wear down they get VERY loud as they near the wear-bars. The wear is about average for an extreme performance summer tire. I just bought two AD08=R's for the rear after 12,000 miles. Fronts last me about 18,000. I don't care if they don't wear like iron - they are that good!

I bought these tires to replace a set of the Avid ENVigor's that I thought were awful. They were the noisiest tire I have ever owned, and only lasted 48k miles on a 60k warranty. I was hesitant to buy a similar line and looked at buying the Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2. After comparing them to the Avid Ascend's, I gambled and went with these due to the longer 75k mileage expectancy, and the deeper treads. So far, I am beyond happy with these tires. The ride noise is MUCH, MUCH lower. The ride is very comfortable, and feels brand new. The steering response has been great. I have driven them in a good downpour and they were great. No snow or ice yet as its going into summer where I live. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. 200 miles isn't that much, but the improved noise and ride comfort was so much better, I wanted to post this. I will continue to update as I put more miles on them and when I am able to get some winter driving in.

These are the best tire I have ever bought. Period! They are far superior to the Bridgestone RTFs and the --- awful Yokohama S-Drives. I felt I was driving a semi with the Yoko's. They were so loud and rode terrible. The PS2's grip in the dry and wet like nobodies business. They ride very nice and are amazingly quiet. I'll get these from now on.

I am a licensed mechanic and car dealer for over 25 years and now an RV dealer and am very impressed with this tire. My 2012 Camry Hybrid XLE came with Bridgestones and barely got 31000 miles before wear bars showed. I researched all tires available with low rolling resistance and the Yokohama was rated 1st above all the others and ended up being the lease expensive since Toyota offered buy 3 and get one free special. Upon driving out of the dealership these tires transformed my Toyota into a Lexus with fantasic ride comfort, handling and ZERO noise factor compared to the Bridgestones!
I thought my 2 year old car was better than brand new.
I would caution that if you review the compounds of these tires the snow and ice things would not be ideal. I also think some of the negative comments I read were a result of not looking at the best tires for your car and your driving conditions.
Other than these subjective issues...IF you want the best tire at the best price and value....THIS IS THE ONE!
Sincerely
MLS

FOR THE AGGRESSIVE TREAD THIS TIRE IS RELATIVELY QUIET. I DO A LOT OF MILES ON MY TRUCK SO I'M NOT SURE HOW MANY MILES I HAVE ON THE TIRES BUT AT LEAST 50000. I HAVE ACTUALLY HAD AT LEAST 4 SETS OF THESE TIRES PROBABLY MORE I HAVE 270000 MILES ON MY TRUCK. THEY LAST A LONG TIME. KEEP THEM INFLATED TO ABOUT 36 PSI AND WATCH HOW THEY WEAR. ADD A LITTLE PRESSURE IF THEY ARE WEARING ON THE OUTSIDE EDGE OR LESS IF THEY ARE WEARING IN THE MIDDLE. GREAT TIRE FOR THE PRICE I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM. THE N/A'S LISTED ARE BECAUSE I HAVE NOT DRIVEN IN THESE CONDITIONS

Initial Review, 43,500 Miles on Tires
April 20, 2014

Installed on my 2007 F-150 FX2; very nice tire and best bang for the $ in an area like ours [British Columbia by the coast] where rain and snow or ice and dry weather are all unpredictable and can be encountered all during the same day of driving; even in June! Sometimes they will thump for the 1st km or so but are fine when they warm up.
I went over the Coquihala Pass in a January snow storm and passed several vehicles with snow tires that were stuck [not that the
Spec-X are a winter tire but I was happily surprised]. They tracked well [excellently!] through icy ruts even though the 275/55s are wider than most other vehicle tires on the road [so like they were a tad wider than the ruts]. 200 lbs of sand in the back of the empty truck box keeps them working in snow & icy conditions.
In the rain [and we get lots here]; they are superb; no kidding; you'd think you were on dry pavement; hit a big puddle at 120 km/hr and they haven't ever hydroplaned yet.
Cornering: I think the truck would roll over before they would lose traction; I had to learn that the Spec-Xs were better than my vehicle & its suspension and my driving capabilities.
Noise: they are on a truck not a Lincoln Town Car; what can one expect? Having said that: they do not differ with the original tires.
I have a reprogramming chip [and some other mods] and set the maximum vehicle speed to 120 m/hr; I am happily here to report the Spec-X's just cruise along and track well at high speeds; again tire performance & quality exceeds the vehicle's aerodynamics.
Would have liked to see 60K out of them but they have worked well and lasted twice as long as the original Pirelli's our F-150 came with.
I am looking for another set soon; will likely buy the 305/50R20s instead of the 275/55R20s I now have.
Compared to other tires; the Spec-X out rotates other tires in traction, wear and comfort in all settings and I'd agree with that rating.

Two winters in New England (MA) have sold me on the capacity of this tire to perform above and beyond. My RAV 4 is two wheel front drive and I travel to a game preserve to run my dogs every morning. It is an unplowed road. These tires have convinced me that I do not need an all wheel drive model unless I move to Maine, New Hampshire or Vermont. Yok's are the best tire for the money in any category in my view.

Initial Review, 13,000 Miles on Tires
February 10, 2014

I must say that my love for these tires prompted me to write this post. I've had them for 13k miles now, through summer heat, heavy rain, 6-12" snow and on ice. These tires are great on a Toyota Venza. The original Good Year tires were ok but noisy, they also weren't as good in rain/snow/ice. When I put the parada spec-x on I was pleasantly surprised. What a difference in noise, much quieter!

RAIN: I also drove through a heavy rain/thunderstorm (yellow / red on radar), going about 50-55 on highway and not a slip! Hands down best tires I've ever driven in the rain!

SNOW: During the latest snow storm here in NE I decided to head up to Wachusett in the thick of it to take advantage of the snow day (12-18" of new snow, how can you not!). I drove on snow covered roads in up to 6 inches of snow at times & even over the plow buildup (12-18") on the highway... they were very predictable and impressed me. They got us to & from the mountain safely and we had a most excellent day of skiing!

ICE: I must also mention that on two occasions this winter I was taking corners and hit black ice. I could feel the car sliding towards the edge but I didn't panic & was able to keep from sliding off the ramp.

THE NEGATIVE: I have to be thorough so I need to mention that I too have a SLIGHT balancing problem around 70-75 mph but I wonder if these 20" rims are harder to balance or if it's the balancing machine the dealership uses. These tires also have huge sipes which is probably why they have great wet/snow traction but I frequently find small rocks stuck in them.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Buy them! I highly recommend these tires!

Initial Review, 5,000 Miles on Tires
February 22, 2008

I've had them long enough to have driven in almost every condition on road, including deep snow, ice, heavy rain, dry highway, secondary roads with tight turns, and some highway cruising. I don't have any meaningful off-road experience to report.

These tires transformed the ride and tire noise levels to those of near car tires in our 2006 Honda Ridgeline RTL. We had low-profile Toyo Proxes ST, and while the dry handling was great, that was the only joy I got from them.

The Geolander AT-S, the replacement for the AT-2's,is far better for typical driving (I've had the AT-2's), with the extra sidewall casing belt. It steers very well, and generally does what is asked of it. In my case that's a lot. The Ridgeline puts 'sports' into a truck: it has precise steering, high spring and shock rates, and a fully independent suspension. It drives like a quality sedan. Tires have no where to hide with this vehicle and any flaw or characteristic is made apparent.

I'm mostly amazed at the ride quality, and the near absence any noise. These tires soak up most road imperfections extremely well, especially on expansion joints going over bridges. Yokohama has done a great job balancing everything one needs in a AT rated tire, while giving you (me really, until you buy your own!) what you're hoping for.

I drive pretty briskly, and the handling is just great. I've bought performance tires for nearly 20 years (usually the best of the best) and these remind me of how they handle in the wet. Matter of fact I've yet to slide this truck in either wet or dry condition, and haved provoked them, but never unsettled them yet.

For those that are big on tire wear (it's not a selling feature for me at all), I'm happy to report uniform, but hardly perceptible wear. I don't think most people could even see it. Oh yes, one other thing, these tires do seem to balance quite well, too.

Overall Yokohama makes a great tire for the money. I can't see how a ti

Initial Review, 2,000 Miles on Tires
July 16, 2011

I love these tires on the CX-9! They are the smoothest running tire I have ever owned on any car. They improve the luxurious feel of the car and are much better than the stock HL400's. The only area they could be better in is steering crispness. I remember driving the car off the dealer lot new and was amazed how it turned into corners like on rails. But those stock tires were only good for about 15000 miles then became horribly slippery in the wet and began to wear extremely quickly, not to mention the steering became very heavy at this time. I used a tread grooving iron to modify/regroove some of the 1/2 shallow sipes & channels and that improved the hydroplaning some but the rubber had already lost its adhesive qualities and wet driving was a very dangerous practice. Since my wife & kids use this vehicle most of the time I was forced to get a new set ASAP.

The Spec-X's are a wonderful tire - not a high performance tire but it has good looks and very good performance along with the best ride in the world.

I just hope that they give me at least 1/2 the 60K milage they are warrented for without turning to crap after the 1st year and I will be happy. I've owned 2 other sets of Yok's on other vehicles and have always been happy. They had a tendency to wear quicker than I would like but I'd wrather have good handling/traction vs a tire that lasts a long time but is deadly in weather!

You will not be disappointed in the Spec-X's on your CX-9.

I will try to remember to update as I add miles to the car.

In February 2010, I purchased these tires. They arrived after the mid-Atlantic region received over 25 inches of snow in 2 days and expecting 30 inches more the upcoming weekend. Luckily, I was able to get them installed Friday because Thursday, I waited for 4 hours and they told me they couldn't do it. On Friday, I went to a different place.

Anyway, these tires are the best. They are noisy and I expected them to be noisy because of the tread pattern. Occasionally, the noise gets annoying but the safety and reliability is worth the noise. From rain to snow to ice, I swear by these tires. They tackled last years blizzard without any hesitation.

Right now, Hurricane Irene is in the Mid-Atlantic area. If for some reason I had to go out and save a life or something, I am relying on my Geolanders. I know they will bring me home safely whether there is sun, rain, snow, or ice.

Go buy them now!

Ordered for Lexus several years ago and have been happily surprised with minimal wear. Tires still look new. Excellent grip and very comfortable. Gave us the best ride we ever had on our LS 400. Handles very well, good turn in and really responsive. Rotated and balanced normally. At higher speeds we were surprised the tire was silent. Really feels secure dry or wet. Lexus should have put S.4 on car from day one. We will buy tire again if needed, but am thrilled if we ever go to sell car the tires sure look in excellent shape and give a great ride. If you have a heavy luxury vehicle and want a superb tire this is it.

What a refreshing change from our old tires. I never thought I'd buy Firestones after their problems over the years, but these came recommended and... they're an almost unbelievable combination of very quiet, exceptional responsiveness, high corning limits (okay I don't explore the handling limits too much in a Town and Country, but the van definitely handles better than ever), great wet traction (my wife complained a lot about this van in the rain for 8 years, but not now), snow traction (good, for the first time in the eight years we've had this van. I really couldn't be happier. I sure hope these tires last a long time, because driving on them is a pleasure. One thing I have noticed is that the sipes (the very small grooves in the tread) only go about half way down, so I'm wondering how much the snow and wet traction will diminish as the tires wear.
Incidentally, this van came from the factory with Yokohamas, which wore quickly, were awful in the snow and rain, and were kind of mushy handling. I replaced them with BFGoodrich Traction TAs after a good experience with them in an older tread pattern - they were noisy, had bad wet and snow traction, wore pretty quickly and I had a defective one.
I was determined to get a really good tire on my van - I thought I would buy Michelin Defenders, but I think the Firestones are a superior tire.
And no, I don't work for Firestone.
