Initial Review, 20,000 Miles on Tires
March 24, 2013

I bought these tires for their price and decent reviews. It is a great tire in the winter and after 20,000 miles the tread has been great for this past snowy winter in Mpls. I think my mpg has reduced a little compared to the OE Goodyear RS-As, but the winter traction has been impressive as well as the amount of tread still left after 20k miles. For a similar vehicle (hatchback, small SUV, etc.) I would purchase again.

Best Tires for a Toyota Sienna

Friday, May 3, 2013 by Steve Huffman

For over a decade, the Toyota Sienna has been a very popular minivan for American families. Toyota's dependability, comfortable ride and ample room has kept these vans on the road for years. Many owners have logged well over 100,000 miles on them and have purchased multiple sets of tires for their vehicle. Like most vans, these vehicles are charged with hauling families, groceries and sports equipment all over town. Families will also use the minivan to travel long distances while going on vacation. The drivers of these vans are typically looking for great all-season traction, long lasting treadlife and a comfortable ride.

One of my favorite tires for this vehicle is the Goodyear Assurance ComforTred Touring. First of all, this tire has fantastic all-season traction. Also, as the name suggests, it offers exceptionally good ride qualities, including a very smooth, quiet and comfortable ride. They are long lasting with an 80,000-mile treadlife warranty in the T- and H-speed rated versions, and a 70,000-mile treadlife warranty for the V-speed rated model. If this sounds like the tire for you, take advantage of our special offer. When you purchase a set of four Goodyear Assurance ComforTred Touring tires before May 31, 2013, you can receive an $80 mail-in rebate. View details here.

Another great option for the Sienna is the Bridgestone Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia. Although this tire is marketed as a Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season tire, Toyoto uses popular SUV sizes on their newer Siennas and this is definitely one of the best tires in the size. Like the Goodyear mentioned above, this tire also offers great all-season traction and comes with a 65,000-mile treadlife warranty. The advantage with this tire is that it is Bridgestone's low rolling resistance tire, which means it will provide you with optimum fuel economy.

If you're looking for a good value option, consider the Yokohama AVID Ascend. This Grand Touring All-Season tire features Yokohama's Orange Oil technology and is branded with their BluEarth eco-friendly identification. It's designed to blend long treadwear, low rolling resistance and all-season traction, even in light snow.

Initial Review, 32,500 Miles on Tires
March 16, 2013

We put these tires on the car at 700 miles. They were a nice improvement over the stock Integrities. The tires were quieter and much more stable at freeway speeds. In wet weather and snow the traction was good. The tires were rotated every 5-7000 miles with an alignment at 15K mile.

Our driving is about 80% country roadsm 10% city and 20% highway. In spite of driving the car mostly for gas economy (in other words gently) the tires need replacement at 32K! This is a serious disappointment. For this reason I can not recommend these tires. Our Honda Odyssey has Yokohama Avid H4s that have worn great so far in comparison.

Initial Review, 9,500 Miles on Tires
March 23, 2011

So here's an update after 9,500 miles or so. The tires performed well all winter, handling rain and snow as well as can be expected of an all season tire. They remained responsive, good handling, quiet and smooth, and I was happy with them until returning from a 900 mile trip. On the way home they developed a high speed vibration which was not cured by rotation and rebalance. In fact, the rebalance only found 2 tires out of balance by 0.25 oz! Finally, a road force balance by my Audi dealer found both right side tires were out of round.

The rotation/rebalance was routine, but the road force balance/diagnosis was expensive ($130). The really important fact is that TireRack and Yokahama stood behind the tires. Maggie at TireRack was exceptionally helpful and 2 replacement tires were provided without charge. How good is that?!

There seems to have been some change in the tires, as now they take a set when standing in cold weather, reminiscent of the old nylon tires. After a few miles they smooth out. I think this must be just the replacement tires, as it didn't happen before.

If the tires hold up and don't go out of round again I recommend them highly. And TireRack is exceptional - no reason to buy form any one else.

These all-weather tires served our needs very well through an Idaho winter. Traction was good in light snow and on wet and slushy roadways. They hold the road and take curves and corners very well. We have only put 4,000 miles on these tires, but tread wear does not show and overall I would recommend these tires to anyone in any climate. They have done a great job foe us so far.

I was hesitant to write this review with only 2,000 miles logged on this tire over 2 months on this vehicle; however, since I just reviewed this same tire that's been on my other vehicle (2001 Sienna) for over 2 years now, I figured I'd go ahead with this review. I liked the tire enough on the Sienna for the past 2+ years to put a set on the Camry.

So far, so good on this car. Granted, it's summertime, so we haven't yet seen any snow or ice, but I've been quite pleased with the wet conditions handling thus far during our summer storms and showers. It's still far too early to venture a guess on potential tread wear though.

I had the Yokohama Avid H4s on before I bought these. The first thing I noticed is that snow and ice traction has improved a little compared to the Yokohamas. The sticky feel of the Yokohama's isn't present on these but they hold their own Touring tires. I like that they are rated for a higher PSI than the Yokohamas as this gives them a more solid feel on the road. Noise comfort is stellar and whisper quiet. Like riding on cotton balls. Much more so than the Yokohamas. Treadwear seems nonexistent thus far. These are a great deal and for those considering the Yokohama H4s, don't overlook these, you'll be pleasantly surprised. I am. Will buy again when the time comes to replace my tires.

Update on original rating. Since I change wheels and tires summer/winter I have no opinion on winter condition traction. I use off road Yoks in the winter. Suffice to say that this tire is the most comfortable and quiet tire I have ever owned. Yoks are the superior brand of tire "for the money" in my view.

Complete satisfaction and great handling compare to previously used stock Bridgestone Turanza and Yokohama Avid. EnVigor. Michelin is a real high end!!!!!!

Warmer Weather is Coming - Time for a New Ultra High Performance All-Season Tire

Thursday, March 21, 2013 by Doc Horvath

With the snow melting in most of the country, driving enthusiasts are looking forward to a spring and summer of high performance driving fun. For those on a budget, there's a great selection of Ultra High Performance All-Season tires, including the Pirelli P Zero Nero All Season. The tire is currently ranked sixth in our Tire Survey Results.

Our extensive Real World Road Ride and test track have always separated the contenders from the pretenders. A couple years ago we tested the Pirelli against the Dunlop SP Sport Signature, Sumitomo HTR A/S P01 and Yokohama AVID ENVigor with the P Zero Nero All Season delivering the quickest and most direct-feeling steering of the group. The Yokohama AVID ENVigor and Dunlop SP Sport Signature followed, with Sumitomo's HTR A/S P01 right behind. All three options exhibited an excellent direct steering feel. Overall noise levels for all four tires were similar, with all producing some amount of tread pattern hum. The AVID ENVigor generated a small ringing tone when it encountered sharp impacts on the highway, and the HTR A/S P01 produced a little more tread noise than the rest.

On the track in dry conditions, the Pirelli P Zero Nero All Season had the quickest overall lap time with its very quick steering response and good overall grip. Dunlop's SP Sport Signature followed with plenty of cornering traction and similar predictable handling. The Yokohama and Sumitomo repeated their standings as before. In the wet, the SP Sport Signature was fastest, thanks to its responsive steering and good ultimate grip, especially under braking.

If you're in the market for new Ultra High Performance All-Season tires, read "Finding the 'Ultra' in Ultra High Performance All-Season Tires" before making your selection.

A generally competent 3-season tire - decent everyday ride and handling, but surprisingly stable and with good grip when really hustled. Turn-in could be sharper, but otherwise a very good compromise at a good price.

I normally use dedicated snow tires, but I got caught in a surprise 4-5" snow this past fall. I was able to get home, but would never drive these in the snow if it could be avoided.

My commute is 86 miles each way so 172 miles each day and around 60,000 miles a year.
Avid EnVigor is great on wet road. My other tires used to lose traction every time you start from a stop. this tires surprised me by not losing tractions. light snow even medium snow is fine .
the tire make my toyota sienna 09/10 van handle like a car
this tires is really live up to its name .high performance all season tires

My only complaint is the road noise which is higher than other tires i'm used to.
This is my second set of Avid EnVigor. i'm planning to try out a different set of tires. just for the sake of trying. i have change to a new set of tires every year any way
the treadlife is 60,000 miles max 55,000 to be safe. which for me is 1 year worth of driving. and i rotate the tires every 20,000miles.
if you need a High Performance All Season . get The Avid EnVigor.
remember that they have to put a softer compound to make the tire grip and stick to the road better thus the shorter tread life. and a bit noisier because of the aggressive tire pattern

My wheels are staggered so I can't rotate them. Plenty of tread left, hopefully it last to 40K miles. I would recommend these tires.

Initial Review, 3,000 Miles on Tires
January 29, 2013

I've had Continental ProContact, BF Goodrich, other, I don't remeber the brands through my long driving history and had never had Michelin tires before.
Purchased these tires to replace Yokohama AVID ENVigor that lasted about 35000-40000 mi until they became bold. A difference in ride became obvious and noticeable right away. The ride became more solid and soft: a softer feel when driving over bumps or rough joints on a freeway, the car became more stable at cornering when making a sharp turn or taking a ramp to exit/enter a freeway. Winter traction and hydroplaning are excellent. Civic is a light car, so of course, it will be sliding from side to side on the snow or side wind when driving on a freeway but with these tires, the car is stable on the snow surface and the same when driving over puddles that gather along dividing wall on freeways. No hydroplaning at all. Yokahama were good tires but the car felt lighter with them and with the Defenders, the car ride has improved significantly. However, fuel economy decreased maybe by 1-2 mpg which is not a big deal. Since this Michelin Defender is made from a different compound than Yokohama, it is probably softer which, in turn, results in a slightly lower fuel economy. I drive 60-70 miles a day. 30 miles to and from work + around the area where I live. I usually put from 1500 to 2000 mi a month. From now on, I will be only opting for Michelin tires. You cannot go wrong with a classic old brand and no more those Kumho, Yokahama and other crappy Chinese or Taiwanese brands. It is like comparing BMW and Honda in a ride quality. Also Michelin claims that they will last for 90k mi here:
which I doubt. I'd like to see it at least how they will be wearing out after 25-30k miles on them if I don't change the car before that. Recommended.

This tire is QUIET! I had Avid Envigor s on my Z3 and loved them so I knew what to expect. I got that and more. Wet and dry handling inspires confidence but comport and low noise level makes listening to the radio a joy. If the UTQG rating of 740 A A is close to true (Thanks to Orange Oil) these tires will be up there with the world's best. I totally wore out the OEM Continental Run Flats in 42,000 mi (not bad for a tire I otherwise hated! The Yokos are not run flat but I bought a "Slime" kit with the high capacity pump and a AAA membership. I feel protected and would NEVER change a tire on the roadside. P.S. Tire Rack Customer Service and NTB installation are GREAT!

Just got Yoko AVID ENVs to replace the Good year Eagle LS tires that came OEM on my Mitsu Outlander SUV. Man, what a huge difference! Road Noise is almost non-existent with these tires. What was Mitsu thinking putting the Good Year Eagle LS as OEM??? Those lasted just 33K miles and the tread was almost gone completely.

Dry traction on Envigor is superb, you can feel the tires gripping the surface, yet its surprisingly agile. Here in Milwaukee, snow/wet traction is very important, so I am hoping that the snow traction is atleast decent
