Love this tire. If you own a Subaru, put these tires on your car. I own three Subies, and they all get wrapped in ExtremeContact DWS as soon as I can. Water evacuation is awesome in shallow or deep road rivers. Road force balanced the tires when they were put on and haven't needed to adjust to date. What they slightly lack in winter (deep winter, regular winter they are great) they make up for in the overall category. Dry sand, wet sand, moist mud, deep sloppy mud, and a mix of manure and mud (on the farm if you haven't figured that out already.) I have not been stuck, stopped, or buried. With a quick flick of the gas pedal to clean the tread they will keep chugging right along with Conti pride!! They have a slight wiggle when cold from sitting overnight outside but after 5-10 min of driving it is business as usual

These tires were on my WRX when I bought it so I'm not sure of the mileage. The previous owner said they have 1 or 2 seasons left. They are awesome in the snow. I can start from a dead stop in the middle of a 2 foot drift with no wheel spin, stop on ice, drive right over tall snow banks. I've tried to get stuck and failed numerous times. A lot of the credit goes to Subaru but these tires are great.

I use these as winter tires on my WRX. For an all season they are pretty grippy and work well in cold temps. However, they are fairly soft in the corners and do not provide the steering response of a summer tire. I do recommend these for winter tire use in light snow areas. They still retain the majority of the cars sporting characteristics.


This tire is fairly heavy at 28 pounds which can I can feel during acceleration.

I put these DWS after reading the reviews. They're comparable to the Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S. Snow traction with the awd was impeccable. I just got rid of the Audi and threw these on my new Subaru WRX. They are all-around great performing tires.

These tires are awesome in the snow what a difference from the summer tires last year. No sliding no skidding they get traction everywhere. Nice job general for making a good affordable tire for people to buy.

My Forester came to me with these tires, so, they being a known decent performer, I bought another set when the first wore out. There hasn't been enough snow to warrant comment on their snow-performance. Wet-weather performance has been quite good, as it has been on dry roads. I haven't pushed the tires hard. The Forester is a sport-utility, even with the turbo engine; it's not a WRX! Road noise and ride are not perfect but pass muster. This tire is, I think, a good choice for the Forester.

Got these for my WRX this winter.... And I have one piece of advice for prospective buyers.. Do not buy if you plan on sliding around in un-plowed parking lots. There is actually TOO MUCH grip in snow. These tires = NO FUN IN THE SNOW.

But if your driving tendencies are a little less spirited than mine I would HIGHLY recommend these to anyone. They are by far the cheapest brand name snow tire on the market. But by NO MEANS does that mean they lack in quality.

Where you will notice the difference immediately: Forward movement. Spinning your tires trying to climb over the city snow plow wake is a thing of the past. Also getting a rolling head-start at a stoplight is no longer needed. Its as if the snow isnt even there.
Where you will notice the difference later: Turning capability in snow. These tires have the best turning traction I have seen. (short of Nokian winter tires.. which are 2-3 times the price of these Generals.)

Last thoughts: If/when you buy these fantastic snow tires. Don't forget to get a couple sizes narrower than the stock spec. Contrary to popular belief, tires the width of a pizza cutter will do EVEN better in snow.

I cant wait to put these on every car I own next winter. Highly Reccomended

This tire is impressive to say the least. It is our first "snow" tire and has made me a believer. I always thought all season tires were just fine but never again. After 5500 miles (in just under 3 months), we just did our first rotation and the wear is very even and minimal. We have made several ski trips with aggressive driving and a 1200 mile road trip with all different kinds of weather and temperatures and they take everything in stride except VERY slush covered roads. When the weather is warm, they tend to make some road noise at slower speeds do to their aggressive nature. If you're looking for snow tires, I would definitely recommend trying these. I thought the price was a little high but it seems to be paying off.

What an awesome snow tire. They were not cheap by any means, but to be able to put something on the car and just drive off and be totally happy off the bat is rare and appreciated! I have no regrets with making this choice. FYI, the day i got them we had snow, and they did ok, just ok, and for a moment i thought i had spent a lot of money for nothing, but a week later we got a foot of snow and it was like night and day - they must have needed a break in period or something. Either way, now i can stop on an incline going downward with little ABS engagement, and turn around and go back up the incline with minimal effort from the AWD. Dont look at anything else, ---- it up and get these tires! :-)

These tires are great so far much better then the Dunlop's that cam on my 2011 Subaru WRX. they made a huge difference in handling with an proper alignment. I am very vigorous on checking inflation rates as well. Dry weather- Hnadles excellent steering response turn-in and driver control/confidence. Wet- Handles great in my opinion drove through plarge puddles with plenty of confidence no hydroplaning in the rain now this might be bias due to the Subaru AWD system(4wheels are always in motion)But over all I like them so far and have owned several Kumho's in the past like the Ecsta and ASX. My favorite were the ASX and I really wanted the 4X this time around but didn't have the budget. So there you go if you want an inexpinsive affordable tire with great control low noise and grip in dry weather and decent in wet weather BUY THIS. If you have the extra money get the KUMHO 4X and Im sure you will be happy.

This is my second set of Potenza RE960as pole position tires that I have owned. The first set was for a 1999 Subaru Impreza L which I put about 30,000 miles on and they still looked new when I sold my car and I would have to say they were the best tires I have ever owned. I enjoyed these tires so much that when I purchased my new car (2004 Subaru WRX) that even though it had new tires on it I decided to buy a new set of Potenza RE960as pole position. So far what I have noticed about these tires are they are even better than my old ones, most likely because of the size difference. I would definitely recommend these tires to anyone in the market for new tires. I will update my review after I put some more miles on the tires.

I've had these tires for two winter seasons and I'm very pleased with. On the dry pavement they have amazing grip in cold wetaher but once it gets warm they lose some of it. This expected from a winter tire but I'm still amazed that I can drive the car hard and not lose grip. In the wet, that tires perform just as well and I only felt some hydroplaning once. In the snow, the tires are just perfect. The tires just plow through the snow and they give you a sence of confidence like no other. I will definetly buy these tires again.

Plesantly surprised with the New Direzza II's so far, I am very happy with the new found rear end grip under heavy throttle and agressive steering input. Normally with a heavy right foot and my old Hankook RS2's the rear end easily broke loose under normal AWD settings. So far these tires have far exceeded the Hankook's and seem like they could be a match for the Bridgestone RE11's. Time will tell if they are fully on par with the RE11's. Great tire, certainly a good match for my 450hp STi so far.

I've driven these tires on dry and wet pavement, and they handle both pretty well. No snow driving yet. There is more roll when cornering aggressively than the original Dunlops, but it's predictable. My only complaint is they make a whining noise on certain road surfaces under acceleration.

For an All-Season, this really is a great tire. A dedicated winter tire where I live and how I drive is complete overkill, and would be chewed up by the rarely un-plowed roads (story changes 1 hour north). The Conti DWS has been nothing but predictable and pleasant to drive since November 2012. Undetectable tread-wear so far. I haven't experienced summer usage, and probably won't (have dedicated summer wheels/tires), but as 3-season tires the DWS has been excellent so far. Glad I listened to Wayne at Wagner Subaru.

I purchased these tires about 2 years ago with a tire and wheel package for my wrx. these tires are awesome!!!!! They handle perfectly when its dry outside(does take a little time to heat them up) whether its a straightline or the corners my wrx is built for. I track my wrx a few times a year and they hold up well for the price. I have rotated every 3000 miles and now at 30000 miles on them. i could probably squeeze another 3000-5000 miles out of them if i had to. i would definetly reccomend to someone else.

i have purchased yokohama tires for years, and been very pleased with every set. these tires didnt disappoint. wet and dry handling are excellent, and the vehicle has never hydroplaned. treadwear has far surpassed my expectations, 47k miles now and easily another 25k more to go. i havent experienced the loudness complaint some have talked about, maybe they havent worn enough yet.
will purchase these tires again, and again

I dig these tires a lot. I've spent $50 more per tire on michelin's pilot exalto a/s tires and the DWS tires are way better in the snow. Wet and Dry traction are solid. The only thing I can't comment on is treadwear, but if they hold up for 50k mi, I'll definitely buy another set of these for my next vehicle. I would recommend these to anyone w/ an AWD car that is looking for a great All-Season tire that will not have dedicated snow tires. Great value for sure.

I used these tires for 2.5 autocross seasons and they exceeded my expectations. I initially had them installed on a 2005 Subaru WRX with no suspension modifications, and the outside shoulders paid the price. Once I started running enough negative camber and added some stiffer sway bars, the tires performed much better and held up nicely. Very predictable at the limit and excellent feedback. They can get a little greasy on really hot summer days, but most of the time they are fine. I got to run 2 events in the rain and that's where these tires really shine compared to some of the other tires in this category. Other competitors with AWD cars, who weren't running RE-11s, seemed to have less traction in the wet compared to myself. I'll be buying another set of these for the 2013 season, and with the added suspension modifications they should perform even better.
