Significantly quieter than the set Khumo tires I replaced. Very good in rain and snow. I like to throw it into corners, and these tires grip. I'm very pleased.

These tires are amazing. We took the factory Michelin's off because we had a bad tire and installed these. They now have 70,000 miles on them with 5/32's left. The tires have worn great, they are quiet, and they ride much better than the Michelin's ever did. When these wear out we will own buy the Serenity Plus.

Bought a set when my OEM Michelins wore out after 50K miles based on reviews here and elsewhere. Unfortunately, aside from good traction in snow I have had no reason to like these tires. I have had consistent vibration issues at highway speeds even though I have had the tires balanced numerous times, alignment done, etc. In addition, now at 10,000 miles, the road noise is getting worse and noticeable.

A very good tire on a Volvo V70. Very good to excellent in most areas of
the tire rack survey. Very good snow traction(up to 5") for an all weather tire.
Ride comfort and noise level are also very good. These replaced Michelin MXV4
at half the price, AND much better in the snow.
I'm very satisfied.
I hope General keeps making this tire thru 2014.

These all-weather tires served our needs very well through an Idaho winter. Traction was good in light snow and on wet and slushy roadways. They hold the road and take curves and corners very well. We have only put 4,000 miles on these tires, but tread wear does not show and overall I would recommend these tires to anyone in any climate. They have done a great job foe us so far.

I've only had these tires for about a month now. But I love them so far. Great improvement over the OE Continental Contisport Contact3. Very responsive. Sticks to the road in dry or wet conditions. Best wet weather tires I've ever owned. Good omen when the guy who installed the tires came came out to tell me how great he thought the tires were. He was giddy over these tires (and his shop doesn't even sell this brand). I don't know what the treadwear will be. I got 32,000 out of the Continentals and the tire guy thinks these should get about the same.

Better than OE tire $60 cheaper what's not to like.

Got these tires on my s60R and they are great. They stick to the road like I am driving on glue. Great traction in the snow for being AWD, but mind you it is a Volvo and they TCS is great. I drove in pretty bad conditions on the highway and did not slip at all! Great dry traction and wet traction. Definitely can hold the road. A little noisy but this is my first set of high performance tires. Overall I think I will be getting these again!

After having Pirelli's on my Volvo C70 that were horrible, I am exceedingly pleased with the MXM4's. The car rides like a new vehicle. Great control on wet roads with a crisp and comfy ride on dry. Very quiet too. My husband did not like to drive the car before because the Pirelli's were a rough ride. Now he loves my car! Cannot recommend these tires enough - 5 Stars! Complements also to Tire Rack as the service online and over the phone was superb. Second time happy customer that will be back!

I had 2 sets of Hydroedge which I really liked, they are no longer made and the Guardian is, so Michelin Guardian says, the Hydroedge's replacement. The Guardian is a great tire but does not have the Hydroedge's ride comfort. It has a harsher ride especially over bumps. At 5000 miles shows no wear. I spend 6 summer months in FL and 6 winter months in MD. Great in the rain, Great in the snow (I have AWD), even better on dry roads. Another great Michelin tire.

Find Better Tire Choices for Your Volvo XC70 AWD in the Alternative Size of 225/60R16

Friday, March 15, 2013 by Cy Chowattukunnel

If your family hauler is a second-generation (2001-2007) Volvo XC70 AWD, you probably bought it for the safety it provides. Safety also requires focused driving and equipping your Volvo with the best tires for the conditions. Does tire choice make that much of a difference? Yes, consider the difference in wet braking distance between the top tires and the fourth place tire observed in this Grand Touring All-Season comparison test.

Choosing the right tires for your Volvo XC70 can be tricky. Most second-generation Volvo XC70 vehicles came with the relatively obscure 215/65R16 size. If wet braking is important to you, and it should be, you may want to consider one of the top three tires referenced above (Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus, Continental PureContact with EcoPlus Technology, Michelin Primacy MXV4). The problem is that they're not made in your size, therefore you'll need to look at the 225/60R16 alternate size. 225/60R16 is about 1/2" wider, 3/10" smaller in diameter and fits the Original Equipment 7" wide rim without rubbing.

Now that you know what size to look at, what tire should you purchase? Obviously, if you live in a dry area like Phoenix, Arizona, you'll want to choose your tire based on variables such as dry braking and steering response. With these parameters in mind, I'd recommend choosing between the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus, Michelin Primacy MXV4 and Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus.

225/60-16 Grand Touring All-Season Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus $109**
225/60R16 Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus
225/60-16 Grand Touring All-Season Michelin Primacy MXV4 H Speed Rated $136**
225/60R16 Michelin Primacy MXV4
225/60-16 Ultra High Performance All-Season Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus $134**
225/60R16 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus

The Turanza Serenity Plus provides good wet grip, decent road manners and relatively long treadwear. Michelin's Primacy MXV4 shares theses traits, however the Serenity Plus offers a little more wet grip capability. Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus' strengths of crisp steering response and better dry grip make it appropriate for faster drivers.

If the Michelin tire options are what you're looking for, take advantage of their current special offer. When you purchase a set of four Michelin brand passenger or light truck tires, you can receive a $70 MasterCard® Reward Card. Offer ends April 15, 2013. View rebate details here.

I bought the DWS because the stock tires were terrible in snowy conditions. One of my criteria was a quiet tire. I was pleased with this tire on both counts. What I was not prepared for was how well these tires performed on pavemment, even dry pavement; especially a Volvo wagon. If a XC70 can feel like its diving on rails, then the tire has to be good. I recommend them whole heartedly.

My wife drives the car primarily, but I get enough time behind the wheel both in city and on the highway. These tires seem to be wearing well so far. They are due for rotation, but haven't shown any significant disparity between the front and rear. They have been very competent in the wet weather especially under braking which was a key feature in choosing this tire for this area. Also very good value and the 205/55 x 15 is not as available of a size as it used to be. It allowed for a slight bump up in tread width from the stock 195/60. I'm glad Kumho offers it. I would buy this tire again based on value and above average performance.

What a great tire. I got the full 50,000 miles out of them and probably could have gone a few thousand more, but winter set in and I didn't want to risk it. These Continentals in particular cornered well on back country roads and traveling at highway speeds around 75-80 was a smooth and pleasurable experience as well. On occasion I pushed them to the limits abd they never let me down. Wet and dry road traction was outstanding and light snow performance was great. I have tried nearly every tire manufacturer out there, and these tires were definately one of the best.

Special Sale on Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season in 255/40R19

Friday, February 22, 2013 by Zig Ziegler

The Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season is a premier Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season tire. It has continually been ranked in customer surveys and internal tests as a perennial favorite. This eco-friendly option features a quiet and smooth ride, as well as some of the highest marks in wet traction according to "Testing the Newest/Popular Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season Tires".

Scorpion Verde All Season tires mold a silica tread compound into an asymmetric tread design that features an optimized rubber-to-void ratio and uniform contact patch to blend dry road traction and performance with uniform wear. Four wide circumferential grooves displace water to resist hydroplaning and improve wet traction while longitudinal siping for lateral stability on loose surfaces and high-density lateral siping enhance wet and wintertime traction.

The Scorpion Verde All Season is labeled as a Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season tire because most of the sizes offered cater to mid-size SUVs. However, with many SUVs today being based off of successful car platforms, the tire can go on a wide range of vehicles. I have had many customers use the 255/40R19 on high-end luxury sedans with great success. This would include luxury sedans/wagons like:

  • Audi Allroad
  • Audi A6
  • Audi A8
  • Buick Lacrosse
  • Cadillac CTS Sedan/Wagon
  • Volvo XC70 (Cross Country)

Shop by vehicle to see if the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season is offered for your SUV or luxury sedan and take advantage of the current sales price of $135 per tire in the 255/40R19 size.

Initial Review, 5,000 Miles on Tires
August 21, 2010

Wow, after I have replaced my old Goodyear Eagle RS-A (pretty good OEM tires), i was so surprised by my new Scorpions with its comfort level at first, with very soft and nice ride, and almost no noise in the car. I have Mazda CX-7 and it is a very noisy car itself, Japan cars don't have such good noise isolation as American (let's say Cadillacs or even Chryslers) or German (BMWs or Mercedes's). So comfort level was first and biggest surprise of Pirelli Scorpio Ice&Snow. Then Wet Traction is just superior. I usually drive 85-90 miles per hour in US, i would say always, does not really matter dry, rain or snow (sorry guys, i have no speeding tickets for 16 years, I know how to talk nice to troopers and police, so i am lucky on this side). I am from Europe, so in Germany for example I am driving up to 160-170 MPH (if car allows, usually if BMWs-170MPH, Volvos-160MPH, Opels-156MPH). So with these new Scorpios I would drive up to the its limit with no concerns, even on the wet road. Nice nice tires, probably once of the best I have ever used o my cars. I belive that I have found the best tire for the Mazda CX-7. Will see how it will wear out with time, but as of today I am very happy with these Scorpions.

Initial Review, 40,000 Miles on Tires
January 26, 2013

Overall these were excellent tires. I was very happy with the performance. At 40000 I had to replace the tires due to side wear (concern that the steel belts would pop out and slash the tire). My mechanic feels my car should have been aligned and the tires should have been inflated more/checked more often. I admit that my low pressure warning light came on after a long drive in the summer time so I'm sure that didn't help. Also, when a cold snap hit recently I didn't check the pressure and a few days later the warning light came on again. My bad--I guess. That's why I gave it a 7/10 on treadwear...perhaps much of that was my fault but I can't take the tires out of the equation since I haven't had this problem in the past. Buying them again and watching the tire pressure like a hawk to determine if these tires are not pressure-stable or if it's human neglect.
