Upgrading the wheels on a car is one of the most popular modifications drivers like to make. It allows you to add a personal touch, while also helping it stand out in a crowd.

Situations like this are likely to occur with trucks where a lift kit is used. To ensure the wheel is a perfect match for your vehicle, we measure or verify many items, including:

Frequently Asked Questions About Tire Pressure Sensors

Starting with 2008 model year cars and light trucks, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) has been required for all new vehicles sold in the United States. While some vehicles (Audi and BMW most recently) use the ABS system (or indirect system) to keep watch for a deflating tire, most use a battery powered sensor (based in the base of the valve stem assembly) to give the most accurate read of your tire pressure. When replacing tires or wheels and tires as a complete package, the presence of these remote sensors can require a few extra steps in the purchase and/or installation process.

Why does my installer charge a "TPMS" service fee for installing new tires?

Many of our Recommended Installers will charge a TPMS service fee as part of new tire installation. When the old tire is being removed from your existing wheel, it's best to remove the TPMS sensor (and the attached valve stem). This avoids any damage caused by breaking the tire bead loose from the wheel as well as seating the new tire onto the wheel. Once the sensor has been removed, it will require a new "O" ring and/or compression ring to seal the sensor properly.

What happens if I do not add new TPMS sensors to my Tire & Wheel Package?

When we sell a set of wheel and tires, we're happy to mount and Road Force balance the tires to the wheels at no cost prior to shipment. Given the TPMS sensors are located inside the wheel (opposite the valve stem hole), the sensors (if requested) need to go in the wheel before the tires are installed. Without the sensors installed, most vehicles will display a warning light and chime upon engine start up (the light will continue to blink as long as the engine is running). Some vehicles may also limit your ability to turn off traction control if you need to "rock" out of a snow drift in winter or even limit engine output. In many states, an active TPMS system is required as part of the state's safety inspection, and any illuminated warning lights may cause the vehicle to fail its annual safety inspection. With your purchase, you can elect to add the correct sensor (at an additional cost) or choose to have your existing sensors removed from your old wheels and installed on the new wheel. If run-flat tires are being purchased with new wheels, new sensors are required.

If I purchase new sensors as part of my Tire & Wheel Package, what else needs to be done before use?

Many vehicles require new TPMS sensors be activated or initialized at an authorized repair facility or dealership. This process normally involves connecting the vehicle to a service computer (via the ODB port under your dashboard) and having a technician load the new sensor's ID codes into the car's computer. Most cars will need to have this activation service performed each time wheels and tires are changed out (like when changing from dedicated winter wheels and tires back to your summer/all-season set). As always, consult your owner's manual or contact your dealer for more information.

Bought these almost 1.5 years ago for my wife's Audi A6 Quattro AWD and it became an absolute tank in the snow. Nothing could stop it. Turn the traction control off and it just dominated the roads. Truly forged a path for plow trucks to follow in the February snow storm where New England saw upwards of 3 (THREE) feet of snow. I was beside myself with this tire being labeled as "All-Season". Props to Audi on their AWD powertrain and all that, but these tires just showed to up perform, and they did just that. The roads have dried up now and the ride is still very smooth. Our two kids (3.5 and 7mo) both pass out from the smoothness and quietness of the ride. Had a 4 wheel alignment done at the time of installation.

Excellent winter tires for my truck. They performed well in all conditions (dry, wet, snow, ice and slush, as well as cornering, acceleration and stopping). In deep snow, my truck did some fish-tailing as I had no weight on bed and I could feel it pushes the front wheels through the snow. Once I turned the 4x4 on, the truck went like a charm through the snow and didn't flinch a bit. After one winter with 10k miles, there is a noticeable tread wear on rear wheels compared to front wheels which still looks like new. Will have to rotate them after 5k miles next winter.

I use these on my 4 wheel drive winter/ off road truck and with these tires driving in the snow barely affects the traction i get. It is just like driving in normal conditions. Even in mud and gravel i feel plenty of traction. A great tire in every day driving conditions as well. If you're looking for great all terrain tires these are the best you can buy. I've owned plenty of different brands and these are by far the best

I love these R-S3's. I used Falken Azenis RT-215,s and Falken Azenis RT-615 in the past. My car is used a lot on the track. I am an Instructor at the Driveway Austin Track in Austin.

The compound appears to be of an R type as shown by the graining of the tire and lack of tire noise. The grip in dry weather is very good. The Falken 215's were good for the first 3 laps then they would degrade in grip. I found the Falken 615's to be even worse than the 215's. These Ventus R-S3's are far better than the 2 Falkens. The grip is there for much longer the the Falkens.

Even on the limestone laced asphalt in the Austin area they have good grip. There is a section of road that is very slippery even on a hot dry day that cars routinely spin out on. These tires grip well even on this slick section of asphalt.

On the track they work great they make my feel car as though I put $2000 dollars into it. My car is front wheel drive so it really over works the front tires but the R-S3's very well through my 5 to 15 minute stints. With these tires it is a lot easier to go fast and the under steer is reduced as well as oversteer. I am able to apply power when exiting the corners than before. Turn in is also much better.

I have not noticed any problems in the rain. As for noise they generate a little from the tread pattern. The Falken 215 was the quietest tire I ever had.

The R-S3's come with a lot of rubber on them 11/32nd which is just fine for because I also drive my car to the track 6 days a week 48 miles round trip and after 7063 miles.

I try to stay away from directional tires to avoid getting saw tooth due to rolling in the same direction it's whole life. The tread blocks get stair step and the tire can become loud like an off road truck tire but these have not done this! I rotate just front to back and they are still quiet just a hint of tread block noise.

The price is great and I am happy with the wear. I will be buying these R-S3's again and again.

Bought these a few weeks before the last snow storm. Before that the truck rode good on the highway and back roads which is my daily commute. Not too much noise. No problems on the rainy days. The big thing I was waiting for is how they would handle in snow with this truck. Some reported they are not good. The factory Conti's are horrible. I left my house with 8" on the ground. With a 30 mile trip to work on the highway and back roads, I couldn't be happier. I never engaged 4x4. Roads were snow and slush covered. Today I hooked up to one of my horse trailers that was snowbound. I had to back it up through two feet of snow about 60 feet down a small road to its parking spot. The tires had no problem getting traction or very little spin. I had these tires years ago on a CJ7 Jeep that a did a lot of four wheeling with. They were great then and I see they have not changed now.

This tire is just being used on the rear of a 2 wheel drive Colorado. The original tires that were on this truck when I purchased it from the dealership were Hancooks. They must have been the cheapest tires that they could find, because I could not even get a regular start from a redlight without breaking traction in the rain. On the other hand, these Firestone Winterforce UV tires give the best traction that I have ever had with this truck. I have owned many 4X4 trucks and these tires make my 2 wheel, drive just like it was a 4X4. I thought that I was pushing my luck here in Saint Louis trying to get by another winter without snow tires and I'm glad that I did buy them this year. The first storm we had, was a combination of snow, sleet and freezing rain. Most other cars were getting stuck on the Interstate on the steep hills, but not me and my 2 wheel drive pick-up. Stop thinking about getting them and just buy them ASAP!

I live in the UAE and these tires have turned out to be a very good, inexpensive, on/off road tire. They have given 3 years of use mounted on a relatively light, short-wheel base 4x4. If it wasn't for local laws stating that I have to replace them due to the manufacturing date, I could probably get another 20,000 miles from them. The original tire size was 235x75R15.
In the sand, I run them at 12-15 psi and have never had a problem getting stuck in normal running. If the sand is very soft 10 psi lets me float over the dunes.
They have also been very good on-road tires, quiet with good grip around corners even when pushing hard. Can't report on how they handle on wet roads, doesn't rain here enough to give an honest report.
I like them so much I bought another set of the same tires for the truck last weekend.

These are great tires. In fact, they are the best all terrain tire I've ever used. They go like stink in sugar sand, as long as you air down to 18-20PSI in 4HI. They laugh at fire roads, gravel, shale, and even wet grass and offer extremely responsive steering. Broncos have short wheel bases, and these tires have transformed my truck into a "corner carver". They are ABSOLUTELY SILENT. Even after 30,000 miles, they remain silent and evenly worn, unlike a lot of all-terrain tires. Because most of my off-road excursions include sand driving, I need a tire that guarantees I don't get stuck. I have NEVER been stuck with these. One word of caution, though (an I find their name to be a bit of a misnomer): They are not indestructable. Although they offer great proetection against puncture, their sidewalls will quickly get trashed if you rub curbs, as with most passenger car tires. Some "side biters" or sidewall protection would be nice, as I live in the real world, and not on the sand dunes. The other major advantage to these tires is their light weight, which reduces unsprung weight, increases power to the ground, and increases fuel economy. I have ended my search with these tires, and will be installing a set on another truck of mine shortly.

This was a replacement tire for the original OEM Wranglers that were junk took them off at 20,000 and never looked back, This is my second set of these BRIDESTONE tires and love them. They ride very nice at high-speed with loss noise, My truck is all wheel drive so when the front wheels get about 50% wear i find the truck gets a bit squirrely in the corner when wet. I probably should have rotated them more often.I have a porsche 911 that i drive hard and find myself driving the same way in my truck. These tires have very little roll and handle very good in the corners. i am ready for 2 more tires for the front but im going to purchase all 4 because the tread has changed over the years and don't want to mix it up and have a performance issue. I live in Newengland with unpredictable weather and the tires have never let me down.Hope my review Helped you with your decision.....Scott

Now, I said probably not but them mainly because I would get the mud terrain brethern bf goodrich mud terrain ko. I think that the tires are amazing. They have wonderful traction in every condition on the road, and I try to drive as "spirited" as possible, giving the road conditions. They do provide a heavy duty resistance, curb hopping,driving through pot holes and poorly paved roads. My tie rods gave out before these tires with no gashes. My jeep has an absurd amount of road noise, but they are not from my tires! I would put these on my truck, and my tahoe, but not for a vehicle that regularly plays in the mud. Mud just gets trapped in the treads and it is like wheeling with slicks. They are all terrains an not mud terrains. for every instance on adn off road with out mud these tires are superb!

The stock tires on my Chrysler 300 were positively scary on ice and snow, even for somebody who learned to drive in Minnesota in the winter, in 1970's rear wheel drive cars. I decided to change to winter tires, and bought a wheel/tire package with the Michelin Xi3. With these tires, you don't even notice light snow, and traction in deep snow and on ice is very sure and predictable. On dry pavement, these tires are as quiet as the stock tires. The on-center feel is slightly looser than the stock tires, but still very good. It's a small price to pay for the improvement in traction.

I ordered these tires late on a Wednesday night, and on Friday afternoon the UPS truck was backing into my driveway! I'm very impressed with the Tire Rack's service!

Great tires. Exceeded my expectations. Went through a snowstorm a couple weeks ago, 34,500 on the tires (regularly rotated). Handled great. Put the Jeep into 4 wheel drive, and where other cars and trucks were sliding backwards downhill, the Jeep slowly but surely crawled through it, with very minimal slippage. I have had lots of tires (Michelin, Goodyear, Big O), and the performance of these tires ranks with the best of them.

I bought a 2007 Nissan Xterra with 50k miles and these tires came with it. I have 90k miles on the Xterra now, and these tires have been great. I live in Wisconsin and have run the Xterra through 15 inches of snow going through corn fields, and they handled great. Even in moderate mud they still grip and pull you out. To give you some perspective, last winter a UPS truck was stuck in my cul-de-sac and I have able to tow it out. With 4 wheel drive, a little knowledge of snow driving, and these tires.. You'll be fine.

The General are great tires for wet NW, performs great last week crossing I90 Snoqualmie Pass to I97 Blewett Pass, a 780 mile trek in ice snow blizzard condition, from Seattle to Wenatchee and back, across the Cascade Mountains. Highway 2 was completely closed due to avalanche and huge trees blocking. With 9" snow fall that night and 21F temp at mile 47 many cars and trucks could not traverse the road. Many 4x4 spinning all 4 going nowhere, trucks with chains spinning at 5-10 mph, many two wheel drivers going up skiing were in the ditch, but the General kept going without losing traction or use of chains at 25-35 mph. I easily drove around a group of 4x4 trucks and commercial trucks in chains spinning out in front of me on an off camber turn. The 07 Expedition has Electronic Active Stability Control RSC, 4x4 and General Grabber HTS . I can see the Skid control light up on my dash but could not feel the vehicle losing traction or sliding. When I got to Eastern Washington, I tested the car in an empty parking lot to determine how much traction I had before the vehicle spinout, it took a lot of ham fisted driving at over 30-35 mph in 2-3" snow and ice before the car spinout, at 15-20 mph the electronic skid control would kick in and prevent the car from skidding even in turning braking maneuver. Amazing Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer with 4x4, RSC Active Skid Control and General Grabber HTS. It took 8 hours to drive 158 miles each way over the pass, the ham-fisted testing in the snow covered parking lot was only done so I know how far I can push the car before losing control. That is not the way I drive with my wife and two girls. Very quiet tires, my girls complain when other car's tires are too noisy driving along side of our car on the freeway. Great traction in wet and dry conditions. Good feed back in my steering wheel for such a big vehicle. Gave it an 8 for rock because it picks up too many pebbles then toss them, pack with clay mud will lose traction.
