They say their reputation was built with horsepower, and AEM proves it by taking credit for some of the fastest vehicles found on racetracks across the country. Extensive research and development ventures ultimately lead to high-quality products that enhance performance levels on sport compact cars. But they don't stop there. AEM creates a variety of products well-suited to sedans, trucks and SUVs, too. For example, AEM air intakes.
An AEM air intake system comes tuned and tested to provide a complete air intake system that consistently outperforms the competition. All AEM intakes will soft mount, which means installation is flexible to prevent added stress on the component.
AEM Brute Force Cold Air Intake Systems were designed for trucks, SUVs and muscle cars to gain maximum airflow without sacrificing low-end torque.
Cold Air Intake Systems were designed for sport compact cars and feature an individually tuned inlet pipe and exterior filter for a cooler inlet charge.
Short Ram Intake Systems are economical alternatives to Cold Air Intake Systems, and tend to please drivers who are concerned about hydrolock.
With their knack for custom work and proven ability to develop some of the fastest cars on racetracks across the country, it's safe to say that AEM pioneered the cold air intake system in sport compact cars. (In fact, all AEM air intakes exhibit excellent performance.)
Specifically, the cold air AEM intakes are dyno-tuned to length and diameter. This forces maximum horsepower and torque more so than any other system like it. Take a look at what this previous customer had to say:
"Freaking wonderful noise! There was an installation issue as the factory airbox is a little different on '06 xb, but nothing that couldn't be fixed easily. I did need to do a little cleanup with the wiring, but that was expected. What I didn't expect was the glorious sound this would make at full throttle. I'd guess about a 4-5 HP gain. Noticeable mainly when the VVT comes on. Great product." — Tire Rack Consumer Review, Scion xB, FL

With Firestone, Michelin and Bridgestone tires making up the top five tires in our Ultra High Performance Summer category survey results, there are great options from different manufacturers to consider. Consumers review tires based on their wet/dry traction and comfort levels for an unbiased opinion on tires that suit your driving style.
After you’ve reviewed and compared our survey results, shop by vehicle to complete your online tire purchase.
Note: Low profile tires in the Ultra High Performance Summer category are not intended to be driven in snow or on ice, thus winter/snow ratings are not tallied in this category’s survey results.
The Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position provides exceptional dry and wet road traction with responsive handling. To ensure a quiet ride, a continuous circumferential rib adjacent to the inside shoulder blocks improves wear quality while reducing noise throughout the life of the tire. The tire consistently ranks high in the Max Performance Summer category in our Tire Survey Results with superior cornering stability, dry traction and steering response ratings.
Tire Rack has performed back-to-back product comparisons to help consumers with their purchasing decisions. Our Suspension Component Research page shows Eibach Springs, H&R Springs and KONI results from our Real World Road Ride route and Performance Test Track course. Our findings can help you select the springs that are right for your application.
For example, we tested spring sets from Eibach against the Original Equipment installed on a BMW E46 328i. Our tests results showed the Eibach springs enhanced the handling and feel of our test vehicle while increasing lap time speeds. To evaluate the benefits of modifying your vehicle’s suspension, read:

H7 High Performance Bulbs are designed to replace 55w head light bulbs. Additional wattages are also available. Take a look at how these aftermarket bulbs were able to help two of our customers:
“These lights provide crisp and clear light. They have eliminated the uneasy feeling I used to get driving at night in the mountains. And for the money, it was hard to justify spending double on the competitor’s bulbs. I highly recommend these [bulbs] for the daily driver seeking better lighting. – Tire Rack Consumer Review, 2004 Mini Cooper
“Better lighting than the OEM bulbs and very noticeable at night…for the price, it’s a good deal!” – Tire Rack Consumer Review, 2008 MAZDA3
For example, the Intense White Bulbs from PIAA produce a more radiant white beam without any hint of blue. The bulbs have larger glass tubes that increase output while allowing the bulbs to burn at much cooler temperatures. Here is what one of our customers had to say about these particular aftermarket bulbs:
“These make a huge difference. I can’t believe all the things that I didn’t see before…My [previous] lights were not bad, but I thought I would try these to see if they were worth it. The difference is that the white light gives things the same color that they have during the day instead of a shadowy yellow tint…I will only use these in the future.” – Tire Rack Consumer Review, 1997 Buick Park Avenue

Springs are designed to provide cushion to absorb road imperfections and return the vehicle to a set ride height. Shorter overall lengths and a higher spring rate are commonly used to lower the ride height which helps improve handling and enhance the vehicle’s appearance. Car springs are a major contributor to a car’s handling balance and ride quality.
Whether you choose Eibach springs, H&R Springs or springs from KONI, Tire Rack has the equipment to fit your application.

The Tire Rack Street Survival teen driving schools are developed to provide a controlled environment for young drivers to learn car control through experiencing their vehicles’ handling and stopping capabilities. One year we decided to do a test and got out our air gauge to measure the tire pressure on the participants’ vehicles as they arrived for the hands-on driving school. And the results showed that only 59 of 280 tires checked were correctly inflated!
For more information on checking tire pressure, read:
“We’re Checking Who’s Checking Tire Pressures”
NOTE: Tire Rack offers air gauges from Intercomp and Accutire to help ensure your automobile tires are always properly inflated.

Aftermarket lighting options can improve the amount of light reflecting back to the driver, increasing visibility at night. Also, the lower the value on the Kelvin scale, the better a light will work in fog, snow or rain conditions.
Replacement lighting options can help you see even more details in low light, or no light situations. Whether you are looking to replace headlights or purchase new fog lights, Tire Rack offers a wide variety of replacement bulbs for your vehicle.
For more information on the Kelvin scale, read:
“What is the Kelvin Scale and Which Bulb Value Should I Choose?”
The system combines springs, shocks and bump stop into one assembly. The coil-over set-up is similar to a race set-up in that it allows tuning of the vehicle through ride height adjustment. Coil overs often use an adjustable spring perch that allows for different vehicle ride heights without changing the springs.
Springs encompass the shock and bump stop, working to minimize bounce that occurs during driving. Shocks help control suspension movement while bump stops keep your vehicle suspension parts from coming in contact with the vehicle’s frame.
