A Monday, BFGoodrich Tires and Our Test Track

A cure for the Monday blues? How about an exciting couple hours on the track to ease the transition from weekend to workday?

Cue up BFGoodrich, who brought their “Are You Driver Enough” tour to our headquarters in South Bend, Indiana. The manufacturer sent professional drivers to Tire Rack to allow our marketing team (who normally don’t get the opportunity to test tires on the track) to drive on the g-Force COMP-2 A/S, Advantage T/A Sport and g-Force Rival S. Three Mazda 3 vehicles were equipped with a set of the aforementioned tires, and each Team Tire Rack driver completed two laps in each car.

To no one’s surprise, the highlight of the day was pushing the vehicle’s limits with the g-Force Rival S. Nothing like getting beyond the cubicle and driving on a tire that is tuned to lower run times in solo, autocross, track attack and hill climb events.

Along with our time on the track, there was a classroom session lead by professional driver Andrew Comrie-Picard (ACP). To say we were in good hands is an understatement. Here at Tire Rack, we are the experts on tires, and it was great to have an opportunity to learn from an expert in their field. ACP has won events in Europe and North America, including the 2006 Sno*Drift Rally, 2007 Rallye Perce-Neige, 2009 Rally Colorado and 2010 Oregon Trail Rally. He also competed in the first five X Games in the rally car event, even taking home a bronze medal in 2010.

What were the team’s impressions of the tires? The majority of us came away extremely impressed with all three. It’s not hard to see why the g-Force COMP-2 A/S is currently the top-ranked tire in the Ultra High Performance All-Season category. We are waiting for the miles to pile up in our consumer rankings before we add the other two tires to their respective categories. However, if the smiles on the faces of our marketing gurus were any indication, the g-Force Rival S should find its way near the top of the Extreme Performance Summer category shortly.

Are you #Driverenough? The Tire Rack team sure was!
