Catesby Jones’ and William Taylor’s 2010 Nissan GT-R came up a little short in the 2012 and 2013 One Lap of America, but this year was a different story as they won their first overall victory. Not only did they have the best vehicle, they were again this year driving on the top-rated tire from our Max Performance Summer category – the Michelin Pilot Super Sport.
Pilot Super Sport tires are designed to allow sports cars, sporty coupes, performance sedans and supercars to achieve their full potential in dry and wet conditions. Jones and Taylor would agree, as they were able to best the competition in the Wet Skidpad portion of the competition, too.
These tires are truly for the driver who cares about how tire technology enhances their vehicle’s performance and safety. They are engineered to deliver durability, handling and traction while increasing treadlife. The tires are also comparatively light, with a weight savings of up to 10% compared to other tires of similar dimensions. This reduces unsprung weight to improve handling.
It’s not just the winners of the 2014 One Lap of America who love this tire, our customers do, too. Currently, the Michelin Pilot Super Sport has the highest rankings in the following areas of our survey results:
- Hydroplaning resistance
- Wet traction
- Cornering stability
- Dry traction
- Steering response
- Ride comfort
- Noise comfort
