I have been eagerly awaiting significant snow here in NE Ohio, just to try out these tires. I had a chance in late December we got close to 3 inches, and my husband and I went out just to play around with the Blizzaks. I can't begin to express just how safe and confident I feel with these tires. It's almost impossible to really lose control. We found an empty lot and did plenty of doughnuts, fish-tailing, etc., and while the traction light would come on, the car just could not spin out. We went on the highway, and I could easily do 60 without feeling afraid or unstable. Tonight, we are in the midst of a serious storm and I took the car out for more "play" on unplowed roads. I watched as others around me, while accelerating from green lights, spun out their back ends and were generally all over the place. Most people did a speed limit of around 15, while I felt confident enough to do the posted 35, and it felt like DRY pavement. Unbelievable! My husband said that from his perspective in the passenger's seat, it appeared as if I was driving too fast. He was bracing himself for something to happen, because it just felt "wrong" to drive that fast. He half joked that I have a duty to tell any potential passengers that I have snow tires, just so they don't think I'm a maniac. I can't yet comment on substantial swaths of ice-I only encountered a few ice patches, and felt the grip was sturdy. If these tires are paired with a sensible driver, there should be virtually no problems whatsoever. If you have had near panic attacks from winter driving like I used to, get these tires now! The one caveat, is traveling during rainy conditions on the highway: It feels like you're in a boat, and could hydroplane at any moment. Other than that, I love, love, love these tires.
