Initial Review, 20000 Miles on Tires
December 31, 2011

I've been putting these fire hawks P245/50R16 on my 1997 5.7 Trans-am since 1999. I'm still amazed at the corning ability of these tires. You can take turns at speeds you think maybe that was a little to fast! and expect to go careening off the road! but the tires stick to the road like fly paper. they have never let me down!(knock on wood) I'm pretty sure that i'm pulling some G's!!!
Once I needed to save many and put some Goodyear Eagle GT's on my bab. It was horrible. If i attempted any of my hard corning on city streets, the tires would send you flying and sliding out of control! It was like driving on cardboard tires! un-trust worthy.
The will last around 20 to 25K miles. they tend to wear out on the outside edges first, (imagine that) so by inflated a little over 32psi, helps them wear a bit more evenly. Unfortantly they are directional so you can only rotate them front to back and i believe this is a major factor to there shorter lifes. Dont even try to drive on snow with these tires, you'll slide off the road at the first minor hill. The tire is really wide so heavy rain on the freeway's not a lot fun either. hydro plaining is a scary factor with these tires, but trans-ams are sort of long, and dont have really good turning rations. Once I hit a pond of standing water on a hwy way at about 65MPH, I went completly side ways in both directions about 4 times before I regained control!
As far as speed goes, you feel completly in control at 70,80,90MPH no problem, been upto 135MPH once, felt right. Thou, you'll need a trans am to go with your tires at these speeds, do attempt high speeds in you economy cars, it's not safe with just a little jog, you'll go flying off the road, i've seen it!
I'm buying another set of these tires right now! good luck!
