Initial Review, 49000 Miles on Tires Good wet and dry traction with long, even treadwear (at 49,000 still safe amount of treadwear) for a reasonable price. Unfortunately, the trade-off is extreme noise and ride discomfort which steadily deteriorates (i.e. gets noisier) as the mileage accumulates. Also noticed a 2-3 mile drop in MPG on the Prius. The noise may not be a major issue for luxury cars where there is more sound insulation, but for my more light-weight Prius, the noise really became more and more annoying until I eventually switched out the tires at 49K despite probably another 3-4K of treadwear left. The contrast with the new Yokohama Envigor is amazing. I can actually actually enjoy the silence of the hybrid when the engine switches off.
