Initial Review, 1000 Miles on Tires Purchased four 225/50ZR17 tires about a month ago now. At $107/per tire for a max performance tire, this tire is a bargain. The Tirerack test reviews for this tire alerted me that I should seriously consider this tire, although I had originally want the highly rated Continental ExtremeContact DW tires. Since I did not like the special Continental tires promotion at the time and the Continentals were more expensive than the Sumitomo tires, I opted for the Sumitomo tires. (Sumitomo had a $50 rebate at the time.) Well, these tires are very satisfactory for me here in Hawaii (no snow). For my driving style and conditions, the Sumitomo tires are great. They offer a treadwear rating of 300AAA, so they should provide relatively long tread life. Since I do not drive aggressively/fast, I do not need an "extreme" performance tire, but I do appreciate performance. I have not been disappointed by there tires in any way so far.
