Follow-Up Review: 2,100 miles on tires
My initial review was too early. I wasn't truly satisfied with the performance until fully broken in. The tires have seemed to wake up after 900 miles. Brakes are better and grip is definitely better. I feel more secure than before. No track times here. Just a butt dyno. When the Star Spec were at their best, they seemed to beg me to push them harder. I don't have that same feeling with the Super Sports. Canyon runs and industrial center thrashing is still a blast though. So what's lost in all out grip is gained in comfort. Driving over bumps in the Los Angeles are nowhere near as harsh as the Star Specs. Certain bumps I would brace for aren't as bad anymore. Great all-around tire.
Initial Review: 80 miles on tires
245/40/17 17x9 LTW5 lightweight rims. Still breakin the tires in, so its too early to give a full evaluation but man...these tires are so ---- comfy. Coming from 255/40 Star Specs, the comfort is night and day. I was just so use to having a bumpy ride. I'm also saving 5 pounds per tire of unsprung weight from the old set-up, so I'm sure that's coming into play as well. I've only taken a couple of corners hard and WOW...just like I expected. So far, I'm loving the Super Sports. I can't wait to hit the canyons after they're fully broken in. I just wish they made a 255/40/17 already.
