Initial Review, 200 Miles on Tires
I've only just bought these tires, but I just want to add my voice to the chorus of those who say to dump the stock Bridgestone run flat tires (RFT) and buy the Michelin Super Sports. The Bridgestone RFTs were nice and round, with little rotational vibration, but that's about the only good thing I can say about them. They were absolute rocks, and to this day I can't understand why BMW insists on putting RFT on their cars when everyone hates them. It must be a German thing. I'm sure plenty of uninformed people trade in their BMWs because they hate the ride and the way they skate when turning on rough pavement. The Michelin Super Sports do away with all of that, and I now have the BMW I was hoping for all along. I replaced 17" wheels and tires and went to 18", hoping that going to a lower profile tire would not make things even worse. Fortunately, that hasn't been the case. Not only do the new tires ride well, they stick like glue and the car is much more stable, even in a straight line. The RFT were very responsive, but too much so for street use. Before, I had to worry that the smallest steering input or bump would make me veer into the next lane. Now I can take my hands off the steering wheel and the car will track straight.
