Initial Review, 1,000 Miles on Tires
I went with the Defenders after the stock Pilot Pilot HX MXM4's tread got too low. I got them at the end of Decemeber, right after a snow storm. In the snow, the Defenders provide good grip for an all-season and seem to stay more flexible in the cold temps compared to the Pilot HX MXM4. On dry, cold roads, grip is also good. Especially while accelerating and braking. This is probably attributable to the many sipes. Cornering grip is also good but they are a little softer than the stock tires so some cornering sharpness is lost. The greatest benefit over the Pilot HX MXM4 is the ride quality. These are very refined tires. They absorb road imperfections, bumps, noise and vibrations much better. My Accord feels and sounds much more luxurious now. Road feel isn't as good but the steering is still responsive.
