Initial Review, 2,000 Miles on Tires
June 12, 2012
i'm using these on front of my 02 Z, with Kumho 285-18s on the rear--smaller than stock but with tremendous steering response;
these tyres grip like ticks, don't spin unless you're willing to put your clutch at risk (i have 175K miles on mine) or stuff the 1960-ish open engine bay with a supercharger (i am);
when they do break loose they tell you way in advance and then only break gradually, so you go EXACTLY where you steer in a turn (no neo-1950s Grand Prix racing style butt-flipping four-wheel slides unless you're just plain stupid...and if you are, you will soon learn why they have trees)--and quickly, because these tyres RESPOND to steering input (read motorcycle-style flicks);
true, they are a tad noisy, but i LIKE that, the same way i like my exhaust to sound, like a 7-litre mid-year (yet another project);
how much do i like these tyres?
i'm ready to sell the set of stock sized OEM Goodyears i bought shortly after the car and never put on--all i need to know is if the rears will hold the 315-30-18 Kumho Eckstas!
my only problem will be whether to put 275 Kumhos on the front ( i'm thinking the front/rear size/profile ratios need to be kept close to stock to aid and abet the active handling system);
