Goodyear Fortera HL Edition
Initial Review: 3,000 miles on tires
January 22, 2012

These tires came factory on my Explorer and were good tires all in all. I got 39,000 miles out of the originals and probably had 8-10,00 miles left when I decided to replace due to upcoming winter. I never had any problems with these tire. Road noise was good compared to some continentals that I have owned on other vehicles. Dry traction was excellent, wet traction was very good even with them worn to the wear bars. Off road traction was average for a street tire. Light snow traction was good as well. When I decided to purchase new tires I had planned to go with Michelin LTX-MS. However after much research and talking to numerous tire dealers I decided to go with the Goodyear Fortera again. This decision came down to the fact that most dealers in my area said that the Michelin's would provide better tread wear lasting the warranted 60,000 miles or maybe a little more, but that was about the only difference. Price made my decision. The Goodyear's were less than half the price of the Michelin's. I could literally buy 8 Goodyear Fortera's for less that 4 Michelin's. As for performance I am very pleased with my decision and the extra $600 I saved.
