Follow-Up Review: 6,000 miles on tires
Finally rained in Texas and I discovered, as others have, that this tire is TERRIBLE in rain. Hydroplaning is the worst I have ever experienced, even worse than my recent almost bare tires. This seems unusual with such an aggressive looking tread.

BIGGEST PROBLEM REMAINS. THESE TIRES WERE DELIVERED DEFECTIVE, OUT OF ROUND! The Quality control at GoodYear must have been asleep. The first two tires were returned when I just could not get them balanced even after two tries, and this was for slow speed driving showing real state. Tire Rack and GoodYear have conformed the first two I returned were out of round. At the shop, I noticed they were actually so crooked that you could see them wave back and forth on the balancer! Replacements on the front seem ok for now.

Now I have been driving at freeway speeds and find the remaining two tires on the back axle, bought at the same time as the two defective front axle tires, cause the SUV to shake violently at 60 to 70 mph. These two are pparently also out of round. Tire rack is investigating. I ended up selling the SUV and the dealer confirmed the back tires were out of round. I would stay away from these tires.

Just put General Grabber UHP tireson my other ML 320CDI and they run great! Tire Rack came thru and gave me a small credit on freight for my new Generals due to all my troubles with the four bad Goodyears!
Initial Review: 5,000 miles on tires
Replaced Michelins that lasted only 17000 miles.
EXCEPT for the fact that initially these tires seemed not to balance, these tires ride very nicely, quiet and with loads of traction. It seems I get another 1-2 mpg out of these, but it could be the size of the tire.
BIGGEST PROBLEM is that 2 of the 4 (so far) turn out not to balance because they are actually DEFECTIVE according to the installer! He says it is not the balancing, but the fact that 2 of the 4 are not round and straight, they actually were wobbling on the wheel, creating a sensation of imbalance. He said to call Tire Rack which I did. The customer service gal talked to the installer while I was on the phone with her, arranged replacement tires to be sent to the installer, and the old ones returned, all in one call, all in one day! We'll see how this works now.
