Initial Review, 70 Miles on Tires
November 12, 2013

General's engineers designed this tire to address flaws on snow traction and long wear of previous model - RT, which was mediocre in snow, compared to other All-Season Standard Touring tires.

For some reason RT43's tread design and compound, although very different from previous model (RT) does not inspire confidence for winter driving. Yet, I have to believe that engineers through modeling and testing know better than my eye-balling.

Tested these new RT43-s through a small and early snowstorm in NYC and Long Island this morning. Wanted to really try them on a snow-covered empty parking lot, but snow did not stick. However, during snow, I did not slow down on highway driving, and these tires performed very well on my RWD car, and driving was assured. In a couple of emergency maneuvers these tires did not give out.
