Normally I wouldn't write a review of a tire that's barely been broken in, but since it's a new model, I'll bite. I got the Altimax RT 43 a few weeks ago, and I've already seen almost the full range of driving conditions that I'd normally experience - everything from a warm sunny day to a heavy rain to fresh snow and ice. The Generals have been very impressive in every situation I've encountered so far. Acceleration and braking capability on snow and ice is more than adequate. Wet and dry grip, along with road noise, are dramatic improvements over the tires they replaced (the supposed all-weather cure-all from a certain Finnish tire maker). Ride is also greatly improved, though I'd say that's largely a function of shedding about eight pounds per tire. I have yet to try the Generals in any kind of deep snow, but considering how well they bite into a one inch snow covering, I'm pretty confident that they'll manage in deeper stuff. Overall I'm highly impressed with General's latest product.
