I grew up in Alaska, and have driven every year since my 15th birthday. I drive +-100 miles per day, 85 of those on the highway. I've never been more inspired by the reliability and predictability of a tire than I am with these.
Usually tires are pretty close in performance, in-class. These tires BOLDLY stand alone in their snow and ice handling. I have used 3 other top brand and technology competitors, and they are in a class of their own WELL BELOW these Altimax Arctic tires.
There is not a lot more that I can say, you simply have to trust that they truly are that much better. Now, the ONLY thing that I would say, others may give differing reviews because their winter conditions are occasional snow and ice. This review is quite specifically referring to an environment where there is snow and or ice for 5+ months of the year. Other tires are better suited for 'occasional' snow and ice due to their dry performance, but I stand very firmly behind the superiority of these tires on snow and ice, with decades of aggressive driving experience in winter conditions.
