Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500
Follow-Up Review: 12,000 miles on tires
so a few thousand more miles and a few more autocross events, and let me tell you, these tires may be decent for the street, and especially for the price, but the y are pretty terrible for genuine high performance driving. Very little sidewall stiffness and lots of rollover on hard cornering, even with greatly increased tire pressure. Lots of chunking after just a small amount of sliding. Obviously these are not meant for competition use but i at least expected them to do as well as my old all seasons. I would only recommend them for ordinary sedate driving, but if thats all youre going to do, then get some all seasons
Initial Review: 3,000 miles on tires
So far the tires have performed to my expectations. If I had it to do over again i would have gotten the same tire in a 245 section as there was hardly any price difference. They were good at the last Autocross, we had nice weather and they felt responsive and predictable, good overall grip level. Wear has been unnoticeable at 3000 miles. I started Autocrossing on All seasons and these are a good stepping stone to the higher class Continental ExtremeContactDW max performance summers I plan to move on to. But I don't regret these, I may buy again, but in the 245/40R18 size.
