This tire shocked me with its ability to handle snow, slush and ice, even while accelerating and braking up and down hills. These turned a very nice but foolish for Boulder, Colorado, Toyota Avalon into a viable year round car. (I live at the top of town, next to the mountains and few of the roads here are plowed.

My high ratings for noise and ride might be due to the car. (The Avalon is essentially a Japanese Buick, made in Kentucky.)

These are great on hot dry pavement (crossing the desert during California and Moab trips) and the tread wear, given what they can do, is not excessive in my opinion.

Incredibly, while driving very aggressively on the hills in town (when no other cars were around!) and slamming on the brakes going downhill at 1520 mph on snow over slush resulted in the car stopping as if on bare pavement with no action from the ABS. This was an experiment to see what would happen if I had to stop suddenly. Rather than having a sobering moment, I ended up laughing out loud.

If you think these might be expensive, consider the deductible for a collision. ;-)
