Follow-Up Review: 3,000 miles on tires
January 09, 2014
Tires did well not great during some recent rough snow packed roads. Not much drama getting up my steep driveway with 6+ on it. Where I was underwhelmed was when it came time to turn or to a lesser degree stop. I think I may prefer pirelli ice and snow due to its superior severe capability but they are much noisier and give up the edge in handling so its a tough call. Still great tires just not quite blizzard approved in my opinion but they are excellent everywhere else- perfect for areas that don't get big avg. snowfalls.
Initial Review: 1,000 miles on tires
December 03, 2013

I was going to wait until the snow flew to review this winter tire but I'm so happy about my choice that I figured I'd give an initial pre-winter conditions review. Let's just say the only area I dinged them was noise level and if 9.5 was an option I would've chosen it but in whole numbers I had to go 9. This tire is just awesome especially considering how much sidewall I added vs. my 19 OEs. Very stable, no squirm and if I could have rated wet traction an 11 I would have- simply phenomenal tire maybe the best I've owned (Pirelli, Nokian included) bar none but let's see how they handle snow and the way this tire handles I'm not expecting miracles there (not super gummy like a blizzak) but for my less than severe needs could possibly be the perfect winter tire- one that I'd be completely happy running all year. With AWD I imagine I'll have plenty of grip to get to where I need to go safely unlike many ppl with AWD who believe they're invincible in a snowstorm with crummy A/S's when nothing could be further from the truth.
