Initial Review, 40,000 Miles on Tires
I feel bad for the other drivers who had a much different experience than me. I was hesitant after reading negative reviews on these, but I got such an incredible deal I figured I had nothing to lose trying them out. I was putting about 25K miles per year on my VR6 GTi, and from what I read I expected I would be replacing these after 1 year. But they lasted nearly 2 years before I sold the car and still had life lift in them. They were only on about 3 months before the first winter, and I found them to perform great in snow/rain conditions. As good as any other non-performance tire I've used, actually. Considering this is basically just a summer performance tire that has been siped & dubbed "all season", they performed admirably. Maybe the iron block engine sitting on top of them improved traction... Anyway I replaced some Continentals with these and handling was much improved. I did hit a pothole sharply and bent a wheel, however I never developed any bubbles in the sidewall from that nor despite being on crappy SE Michigan roads for many miles. While I wouldn't pay $1000 for these (or any set of tires for that matter), if I got these for a good deal again I wouldn't hesitate.
