Initial Review, 600 Miles on Tires This tire is a fantastic (not to mention the only) choice for stock wheels for Miatas of this year. Be that as it is, I've had some so-so tires on this car and many other high performance tires on my Trans Am. After having the Star Specs mounted on my wheels, the entire composure of the Miata changed. They stick like glue to the ground, traction is tight, steering input, response and feedback is more crisp. In 600 miles, I've had more fun with this car that I ever have before- and that includes a turbo install! I still haven't found the limit of the tires (which isn't a bad thing). They warm up fairly quickly and can really take some aggressive driving before they start to sing. The one place I thought I'd find the breaking point was around a tight, sandy cul-de-sac. I entered at a higher rate of speed than I should have and expected to have the rear end swing around, as it has many times before on the same turn. The chassis slipped briefly, hooked, and stayed planted on exit. Very unexpected and impressive. I haven't been to a track event yet with them, but I'm sure they're going to have a noticeable impact on my personal bests so far this season.
