Just bought my second set of DWS tires for my Passat 4Motion sedan. I was thrilled with my first set as they handled all road conditions with ease. Living in the Denver area, one must be prepared for any kind of weather at any time. You can have a snowfall one day, it can hit 70 degrees the next, and then have another hard freeze leaving the roads a sheet of ice--for the DWS, it is no problem. These handle the wet conditions without ever hydroplaning. The snow traction is better than any snow tire I have ever used, and they even handle the ice better than any other tire I have had. Best of all, they corner very well, wet ot dry, and are very predictable. They have never broken loose no matter how hard I am driving and cornering. I went up to a 235/45-17 from the factory 225s and the load rating went from a semi-soft 91 load rating to a very comfortable 94, and the ride is firmer and more assuring than my first set. They are also the quietest tire I have ever had--I virtually never hear road noise. In sum, great traction, superb handling and a smooth quiet ride. In 40 years of buying tire, I have never had a tire this good before, and the price is VERY reasonable. I highly recommend this tire to anyone who has to deal with foul weather conditions, yet wants to really enjoy driving when the weather is clear.
