Initial Review, 55,000 Miles on Tires The Continental Extreme Contact DWS has been one of the best all around tire I've ever owned. Even though most miles were highway they should last about 60-65,000 miles. Perhaps the only area it did not perform up to expectations is steering response since the tire has rather soft sidewalls. To compensate I've usually set the tire pressure up from the recommended 32psi--> 38psi which helps some. The tire provides a very quiet and comfortable ride. Traction was very good in all conditions. Even with only 30% tread wear left it still performs well in heavy rain. One great benefit of this tire is my gas mileage increased about 10% on the highway over 4 other sets of tires I've had on the vehicle.
