Initial Review, 5,000 Miles on Tires This tire was good for street use, and even a spirited drive. However, this tire is terrible for a weekend track event use, as it just simply can't handle the heat. They will chunk out significant rubber on the outer shoulder block, you can count on it, has happened to all 4 of my tires, so I imagine it happens to all of them. I got warranty on 2 of the tires (where it first happened) from Continental, but the cost of labor makes it ineffective to keep changing them out. I thought it might have been a defect in just one or two of the tires, but it ended being every single one of them. It seems tire rubber chunking is a known defect for this tire if you drive them hard. They should be categorized as High Performance at most, definitely not ultra or max.
