Bought these to replace Potenza RE050 tires that were run out. The treadwear rating for the new tires are predicted to double the wear rating of the older ones and because of the grip, cornering and even wear of the old ones I wanted to stick to the Potenzas.
So far I have driven these new tires with no issues. They hold the road with tenaciuos grip and are quiet and extremely stable. i live and drive in the mountains of Colorado and on a long trip to Aspen from Denver found he tires to do a great job. Also being new I expected less fuel efficency, but the car's computer which is very accurate showed a bump up after the first 200 miles of run in.
As youknow the Boxster has a high lateral skidpad limit and in spirited driving on twists and turns on smooth roads the car holds the road impeccably although I have noticed a little bit more lean than with the older tires. But no complaints so far, and given that I got over 20,000 miles on the older tires with a 140 rating (!) I expect more from these. With larger rears than fronts, rotation is not possible so correct inflation pressures are critical to maintain even wear. The Porsche TPMS gives individual tire pressures which reflect temperature and road conditions aa well as speeds driven so I am fanatical about monitoring the tires. It seems that these tires run hotter (new rubber?) than the older ones given that the pressures rise more but always stabilise after the car has sat. So it is essential to make sure that you get tires that are designed for high speeds that that these cars are cpable of.
Tire rack delivers agai. Have bought numerous summer and winter wheels pacakges for Audis and as always Tirerack does than outstanding job in selection and delivery. Very happy customer!
