Initial Review, 72,000 Miles on Tires
June 18, 2012

I first bought these tires after checking reviews at Tirerack way back in March 2007. Liked them so much that when it was time to buy new tires for my wife's 98 ES300 - I bought the same for her car. My tires still had some life left after 70,000 miles (about 70 - 80% highway miles) but I saw a rebate going on and bought another set for my Honda.

Unfortunately, my car got trashed last year but I was a very happy camper with these tires. Even when the tread was almost all gone (only about 5 - 10 k miles of tread remaining) it still provided very good traction in wet conditions. For the first 1.5 years I had this tire I was living in Nebraska and Missouri and it did reasonably good in the snow and some ice. I can't complain - it being not a winter tire.

Initially I was a bit wary of moving down from the OEM specs V-rated tires to H-rated but I found hardly any compromise while cornering hard but now with additional smoother ride and much lower road noise.

It's not surprising to me seeing how well the newer version of this tire (the RE970AS Pole Position) is rated.

Regards
Sanjay
