Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position
Follow-Up Review: 13,393 miles on tires
For the record I didn't get rid of these tires because they were bad, I upgraded to bigger wheels. Now onto the tire review. These are the second set of these tires that I have owned. The first set was on my older Subaru that was a smaller size and in my own opinion better. I noticed with these tires on my 04 WRX that they were a lot more prone to getting flat spots when my car has sat for a day or two. They also seemed to not handle as well in the snow as my other set did but that could be because of the wider tires on my WRX. I noticed too that when you would drive over a ridge in the road or even a portion of the road that might have had a line ground off the tires were prone to follow the grind mark. As for the dry traction I personally think these were the best tires I have ever owned. The noise that the tires make are moderately tolerable for an all season tire. I have never hydroplaned with these tires on my car and I am a very aggressive driver even when the roads are extremely wet. The tread wear of the tire is fair compared to how I drive and lets just say isn't very nice for the tires weather permitting. The only complaint that I have for the tire is what I stated earlier, when my car sat for a day or two the first half mile was a very rough ride because of the flat spots on the tires. It would be so bad that the whole car would shake, and my tire pressure was checked religiously. I decided to get a set of Dunlops over the updated Potenzas for one because of price and for two because I wanted to see if they were any better and had a better ride. Overall for the price of these tires they were well worth my purchase.
Initial Review: 100 miles on tires
This is my second set of Potenza RE960as pole position tires that I have owned. The first set was for a 1999 Subaru Impreza L which I put about 30,000 miles on and they still looked new when I sold my car and I would have to say they were the best tires I have ever owned. I enjoyed these tires so much that when I purchased my new car (2004 Subaru WRX) that even though it had new tires on it I decided to buy a new set of Potenza RE960as pole position. So far what I have noticed about these tires are they are even better than my old ones, most likely because of the size difference. I would definitely recommend these tires to anyone in the market for new tires. I will update my review after I put some more miles on the tires.
