Initial Review, 5,000 Miles on Tires
I purchased the RE-11's for track use. I've used them at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Putnam Park, Watkin's Glen and Road America. I drive them to the track, on the track and home from the track. They are awesome tires both on the road and on the track in dry and wet conditions. I had heard that the new Michelin Pilot Super Sports (PSS's) were supposed to be a superior track tire and were supposed to be comparable to the Pilot Sport Cup tires, so I tried them out. They were not near as sticky as the RE-11's in either the wet or the dry. Additionally, I was able to stop 100-150 feet less in the back straight at Mid-Ohio when using the RE-11's over the PSS's. For a tire that you want to drive to/from the track and on the track, you will be hard pressed to find a better tire than the RE-11's. I would not buy the PSS's for track use again, but would consider them over the RE-11's for street use, as they are somewhat quieter, and get better tread wear.
