Initial Review, 100 Miles on Tires
May 02, 2010
I have only owned my new Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo for 2 weeks. About 100 miles. However, I thought my initial impression over the my OEM tires ( BFG) will be helpful.
I had 47K on my original BFG Radial Long Trail T/A. About 4/32" left on the treads. The ride was beginning to get harsh and noisy. Not to mention increased roll. From day one, I had poor experience in rain with hydroplaning with the BFG. Traction is snow was average. In short, I was not too happy with the OEM tires, which came on my new 2007 Nissan Xterra SE 4wd. I wish I had changed them out sooner.
You will immediately notice a software ride with the Dueler Revo 2. The rubber is soft on the treads. It reminds me of the Bridgestone Bliztec snow tires. Very gummy. The ride feels like I have new shocks. I suspect the new 11/32" treads are dampening the ride. The tires are indeed quite. You can definitely feel the extra weight over the BFG OEM tires. About 4 lbs. more. The tires seem to track straighter. According to my dash, I am sacrificing about .4 to .5 mpg combined city/hwy for heavier tires. Keep in mind these are ON/OFF road all terrain ties. The initial few days, the ride was a slightly bouncy, but then got smooth. I suspect the tires needed some settling on the rims.
My overall impression of these tires is very positive. I cannot wait to try them out off road, in rain, and snow. I will update this review once I have some mileage on the tires.
