As for that Snowflake rating: Plenty of reviews talk about the the K02's as great tires but a lot of people are buying these expecting them to compete with Blizzaks as a winter tire, I will tell you that there is absolutely no comparison to a dedicated set of winter tires for most winter conditions. They are far superior to a mud tires in any winter conditions and better than most AT's in deep snow and slush but in ice, they are as bad as any non-dedicated AT tire. Thinking about what you really need winter tires for, that kind of kills these as a dedicated winter tire. As a summer tire that gets the shoulder seasons when you might see some snow and ice they are a great choice but don't think that if you live in an area with real winters that these are going to be anywhere close to winter tires when things get slippery.
To support other reviews, they are quieter than expected, get great grip in the dirt and actually are a quite comfortably handling tire on twisty roads.
