These Firestone Destination A/Ts are great! I now have 66,000 miles on the tires and it looks like they could last another 5,000 miles although the tread has started to "cup" in the last 3 or 4,000 miles. The tires were rotated every 6-7,000 miles and I've had absolutely no problems with tire balancing throughout the life of the tires. Even though the 4WD Expedition is tall and heavy, I have a tendency to toss the SUV around corners as if it was my BMW 530i or M Roadster. The tires don't squeel under hard cornering and are stable under quick lane changes at freeway speeds. I can't comment on the tires off-road performance since the closest thing to off-road use on these tires would be mud and gravel trails. If you drive primarily on highways and cities, this is the tire to buy for your SUV.

I am willing to pay the higher price for these to get a more aggressive tread and incredibly quiet ride. Hard to get both. I tow a travel trailer and go on road trips a lot and couldn't be happier with getting over 40k miles out of these. Quiet ride is huge to me and on a 3/4 ton SUV, they ride great as well. Deeper snow is tough but unless you have mud terrain, most tires will have a tough time.

Initial Review, 10,000 Miles on Tires

Honestly, I think most of the reviews in here are either bias or people don’t bother and put 10 in every category in the survey. Hence the ratings are skewed to the positive side. I can't agree with most of the folks who surveyed here about the noise level and handling. It bothers the heck out of me when driving on highway. That "woooo & wannng " noises are very irritating. Trust me, it’s not the road. I have tried on both smooth tarmac and concrete roads. I had to turn up the radio to compensate for it.

Handling in the DRY is mediocre at its best. I think Continental should rename it to OWS instead (Only Wet & Snow). I am not very confident in turning the car at high speed when exiting off the ramp---the car feels like it is not responding to where I want it to point. I have set the suspension to Sport 2, so I am pretty sure it’s the tires’ problem.

I have nothing bad to say about the tire in wet and snow. Snow is where this tire shines. During the blizzard in the beginning of the year here in DC, this tire combined with the 4matic works like a snowmobile. I was passing most SUVs all day long. The only time I was stuck was when the car had no more clearance which was about 6-7 inches of snow.

I am also very happy with the warranty with Continental. Two months after the installation of the tires, the right front had 2 bubbles. I immediately contacted TireRack and asked for a replacement. Be aware that the manufacture only warrants the first 2/32” of usage. I believe I still had 10/32” (11/32” is new) at that point so I was good. The only thing I have to pay is the shipping back to TireRack.

Overall, I am happy with the tire, but don’t expect to use these tires to sprint through the slalom in the dry as they won’t be able to catch up your demand. Also, if you can ignore the road noise, I would say go for it.

Initial Review, 4,500 Miles on Tires
March 07, 2013

I spent about a year researching tires to replace on my 2008 Lexus RX 350. I replaced my Michelin Green X Latitudes. I was pleased with the life of the Michelin's treadware but found over time the ride became more stiff and the tires cornering was not that good.

Based on the research and commnets found on Tirerack, I chose the Pirelli's Scorpion Verde All Season. After 3 months and 4,500 miles, I can say that these are the best tires I have ever owned. They make my Lexus SUV more nimble with quicker responses to handling and cornering; they provide a smoother, quiet ride as compared to the Michelins; have not experienced any hydroplaning; and they have quick stops.

I know that tire dynamics can change over time and I will have to wait and see if these tires exceed my expectations over the long haul but as of now I am a very satisfied with my purchase.

I bought these tires 4,000 miles ago for my Audi A6. They are awesome in all conditions: muddy country roads, deep snow, heavy rain and dry. Lincoln got 8" of snow overnight this past weekend. It was a delight to drive. Acceleration on deep snow and the handling out performed the big SUV's. On dry roads, the handling is aggressive.

I will buy these again. I recommend that you do too.

I’ve used two other brands of snow tires before buying these, General (Articmax) and Bridgestone (Blizzak).
First impression is that in the dry weather, these ride more like an all season tire. The Generals and Bridgestones were very loud and kind of felt squirmy at highway speeds. Once you got used to is, it was fine. The Dunlops are smooth, quiet and responsive at all speeds.
On to the Snow, these are about 80% of the other two in the snow. They are still good, but not as sure footed, especially in heavy slush conditions. With the other two, I felt like my Mazda was an SUV!! I don’t have the same confidence with these, but if you drive “normally” they will get you were you need go without much drama.
Overall, I think they are a good tire, but just not up to the level of the other 2 I have used. I cannot comment on tire wear, as this is the first season.

These tires are definitely impressive. I've had both Michelin Cross Terrain (factory tires), and two sets of Bridgestone Dueler Revo and Revo 2's, and these tires outperform both of them. The steering responsiveness, stability, and grip on road is the best for a light truck/SUV tire. The only other tire that would perform better in the snow and on ice is a true snow tire, but these are way better as they perform in all conditions. I no longer off road with my truck but I'm sure they would hold up fine in moderate to easy off road situations. These tires also help dampen the road bumps and keeps you on center better than any other tire. I've had them on for 4 months now, and about 5-6k miles and they still look brand new-- I haven't even had to put air in them yet. If you want the best all season road tires that money can buy, these are them.

Needed to replace the OE tires on my 2011 Rav 4. The tires that came with the car the Toyo Tires were bad bad bad in snow. So checked around, If I wanted a well rated, name brand tire, they were very expensive. And no name store brand tires were cheaper but the treads were not that impressive and could not find any info on them far as ratings. So i looked again and ran into these Firestone Destination LE 2 tires here on tirerack and the ratings were good.. So I Went to a Firestone shop and got a set of 4 of the Destination LE 2 tires under $600 bucks installed! Beating the no name tires by 20 bucks! So far so good I'm very happy with the Destination LE2 tires. They just saw snow for the first time (over 6 inches plus of snow) and do very well for an all season tire. Stopping going down hill, climbing up hill and turns in snow are good. Tires hold on with very little slipping. So if you want a 60,000 mile all season tire for your SUV that can take on the snow too but not rip you off in price.... I would really consider these tires..

Firestone Destination A/T: A Capable All-Terrain Tire with Good Street Manners

Tuesday, March 12, 2013 by Marshall Wisler

The On-/Off-Road All-Terrain class is one that receives much attention from owners of light trucks and SUVs looking for a more aggressive tire than their Original Equipment. With a few exceptions, most of today's trucks and SUVs come shod with standard Highway All-Season tires that put an emphasis on treadlife and a quiet ride.

What is missing from these O.E. tires? It most cases, it's an aggressive biting edge that's capable of light off-road or heavy snow use, while still maintaining acceptable levels of treadwear and road comfort. Tires in this performance category are not to be confused with Off-Road Maximum Traction tires. In many cases, On-/Off-Road All-Terrain tires are available with mileage warranties from the manufacturer.

A fine example of a do-it-all all-terrain is the Firestone Destination A/T. This tire offers a degree more biting edge over most factory tires without becoming too extreme. While tires exist that might perform better in dedicated off-road situations, few tires are as versatile as this one. The well-rounded nature of this tire has translated in a first place ranking in our Tire Survey Results.

Available for a wide range of applications, shop by vehicle to see if this tire is a match for your light truck or SUV.

We use our XUV for everything - highway, around town, and even for plowing with a Western plow. The Firestone Dest A/T's are just the perfect tire. Even with 30K miles on them they are quiet on the highway with nice, responsive (for an SUV) handling, they get great traction in mud and snow - even when pushing a plow and snow uphill.
They have also worn very evenly. With infrequent rotation and a set of bad shocks for a whole summer (thanks to the plow), and even under-inflation for a couple months, the wear patterns are very even across all 4 tires, with no trailing ridges or other unevenness. Great tires, and we'll be replacing this set with another when the time comes.

I'm a Michelin guy, but just couldn't bring myself to pay $1600+ for a pavement pounding SUV. Based on the raving reviews the Pirelli Verde received, I decided to give them a try. After all, they were over $500 cheaper than the Michelins. I've only put 10k on them so far, but man- what an impressive tire. Ride quality, road feel, and noise were all noticeably improved. They're even handsome tires to look at! Good mileage so far...I'm sold.

I purchased these to replace the OEM Goodyear Integra, which were average but slippery. I had hydroplaning issues with those and slid on acceleration from stops on wet pavement. However, these Fortera TripleTreds are AWESOME. I need a good all-weather tire for my Pilot that I could use in bad weather at high speed on the German autobahn. I put them on in October and have gone through the fall and winter with them happily. They provide outstanding traction and stability in all conditions. I first noticed that they didn't slip on wet leaves or paint stripes when driving in town in the fall. I have since riven them in heavy rain, ice, and snow in town and at over 105 MPH on the autobahn. They perform perfectly at all speeds and vehicle weights and give me total confidence. They brake well, corner well even when loaded, and they are sure-footed cat's paws even on ice and snow. Sure, every tire will slide some if you turn sharply on glazed ice or brake suddenly on black ice; but these grip better than anything I've ever driven, on any vehicle. I trust my family's safety with them even at very high speed. I have also done anti-terrorist performance driving training. These TripleTred tires are what I want on my vehicle for max performance that could literally save my family's life. Even with shipping, they were cheaper to buy from Tire Rack and ship to a military APO than to buy autobahn-capable SUV tires in Germany. I will definitely buy them again.

This is a good RFT tire. The options are limited, so let me say that I replaced the original set with another at 37000 miles. It was not a particularly difficult decision, really. Tread was beginning to approach the wear bars, but I felt like the grip was diminishing a bit quicker than I was comfortable with. Previous MB diesel SUV (2008 ML) came with Continental Runflats which were total rubbish. Quick wear, poor traction in dry but especially wet. The B-stone Dueler 400's are fine for most conditions. This car does stay parked in heavy snow conditions, though.

Put them on in place of original OEM tires, oh what a difference in ride, and quiet especially on concrete highways. First long trip expereinced heavy rain, not a wimper from the tires, so confident. Even my wife, it is her car, immediately noticed the improvement. We are happy, it is an SUV, not a sports car, and what we wanted was comfort, security and ride, We got it.

This tire very impressive, just got through the big snow storm of 2013 here in massachusetts. The traction and stability made me feel more secure than lower quality tires. Handling and cornering are excellent for light truck tires. Tire feels well balanced going at highway speeds. The MPG did drop about about one-half to one MPG, but may be because it is a new tire and needs a break in period. Gives my Highlander a better ride. This is the best SUV tire I have owned.

just got these not to long ago so i cant tell how long they last. but very quiet, smooth deep treads, nice traction when dry. we just had a snow storm in new jersey last week. i was happy with the way they handle. even in rain i have no complaints. i had the good year tire that came with the car wich were garbage, then i got michelen tires and they dry rotted craked and tread life was 50/50. those brands never agian.
firestone makes nice tires, great price. i didnt have to much to choose in the size because i am very picky about tires. I wanted a more beefy tire but with out noise or compermising the gas miles. so this tire fit in perfect.
So my final say, YES! if you have a SUV these are good! i will coment later as far mile life cause like i said i only have 4,000miles on them but the tread still looks good so far. care full when reading the reviews, cause lets say if you dont have a SUV and you want them on a sedan, then the might handle diferent as compared to an SUV. hope my info helps you!
